Not sure how you got that from my comments but having one more mature/experienced ball handler, who shoots FT's at a pretty high clip, is not the worst thing to have when you're playing a team that presses.

We turned the ball over 18 times last year.

Would it be better to have Bubu to call on if needed, or an empty scholarship? Seems pretty obvious.

Look, this had been hashed out a million times before but he's not exactly a ball-secure PG (see-traditional PG).

Iowa fans said they ran out of legs with 3 games in 3 days. Although there is merit to that, so did every other team in the tournament and this is when their "depth" should have helped out.
What!? After the UTEP game they were saying their "depth" was wearing other teams out.

There is no way we can compete against Woodbury. He is a beast. I think he's averaging over 4 points a game with just about that many boards.

Don't forget their best player is shooting 39% from the floor and 29% from 3pt too against an easy schedule...

I don't know what we're going to do CyTwins, Deanvogs has retreated to the safety of Jon Miller's Imbecile Nation.

I had a few drinks over break one night and bet 3 different Iowa students we would win in Hilton and I gave them 5 points. Should I be worried? I thought 5 would probably be right around the line Vegas would put

seems right. I say we win by double digits. Too many weapons on our side.

I think the key to this game will be to keep Hogue, Ejim, Niang,Kane and even Edozie and Gibson out of foul trouble.

Iowa makes aggressive drives to the basket and takes the ball to the rim. So far, Ejim and Niang have not shown any ability to improve over last year in picking up fouls. I mean, Niang just fouled out against Auburn in a blow-out. I think this problem is the only thing that can doom ISU in this game.

The other recent phenomena with Iowa is that their last two games they have actually hit from outside pretty well. Now, this may have been getting used to the gym in the hotel, or a lack of transition defense by their opponents, just blind luck, or maybe (unlikely) suddenly some of their people figured out how to shoot 3's and that those baskets actually run your score up faster than 2 point baskets. I don't think that Iowa can get into a 3 point shooting contest or even a running contest with ISU, but it is still worth noting that their outside shooting has been better of late.

I think it will be a hell of a game.

hiawatha, ia
I went to last years game and came away very disappointed. This is Iowa's Super Bowl and will be pumped to try to take down an undefeated ISU team on their court.

Basically ISU has nothing to gain here and everything to lose. ISU is the better team over the course of the season, but Iowa will be prepared for this game like Hoiberg will have our guys prepped for the NCAA tourney.

I am guessing the game will be close and hopefully Hilton Magic can prevail, but I won't be shocked if the Hawks win their superbowl.

Absolutely agree with you re: Bubu. Bottom line is that we would be an even better team with Bubu. In addition to the positives you mentioned, he is also a quick/defender. I prefer to rely on Fred's opinion re: Bubu vs. the "experts" on message boards, and Fred would have started Bubu.

Don't know why we don't play them and Drake every other year in the Big 4 and do a home and away with UNI instead. At least UNI has won a tourney game in the last decade

UNI won't. This isn't their McDermot ISU anymore.

Ugh, wish Notre Dame was better. The big white guy now that Cooley is gone (forget his name, didn't go into Louisville game until first OT and then got about 20 points in ensuing overtimes) is just not great, altho he can probably handle Woodbury. Grant probably needs a huge game for them to have any chance against Hoks. On the plus side, their game is obviously nothing like Iowa State's so the preparation by Iowa is completely different.
