I dont get the obsession with sage.

But all former Iowa State players will be good coaches since Fred is. Sage coaching QBs, Bruns for the o-line, Collin Franklin at tight ends, Troy Davis at running backs, and Todd Blythe at receivers. I'm sure Berryman will be a great defensive ends coach too. :jimlad:

I know you're joking, but I bet Bruns would be good on the staff in some capacity.

I think that some people need to calm down and remember that while ISU does have a lot of young talent on its roster and that may look attractive to a new OC, its still ISU. Some people want to make a big splash hire but forget that if they would have success over the next couple of years then he would be hired by a bigger school. ISU needs someone who will be here for the long haul and has ties to the area that would want them to stay in Ames.

The new OC will have to be a guy that knows who to make adjustments during a game. They need to be able to take advantage of the deep WR core that ISU will have and be able to mix the WR's up. ISU has some tall guys and speedy short guys. Mix it up! Also, get Winberly to catch the ball out of the backfield would be nice because with that speed getting him in space is important. A LB isn't going to be able to keep up with him. All that being said if the O-line doesn't progress and become a solid unit next season nothing else will matter.

Yes, bringing in someone like Flynn would be nice as a position coach to learn the role of a D-1 coach would be great. Sage needs to start coaching at least at the high school ranks before being brought in. He has no experience being on the other side of things as a coach and has never sat down in a livingroom talking to a recruit or parents. CFH was at least in a front office position and at practices asking all sorts of questions. He just didn't come in off the streets to coach.

CPR said the he is going to be on the recruiting trail for the next two weeks and then will start to filter through candidates. Sturdy and coach K are still a possibility or both could be gone based on who is hired as the OC and how much control they're given to run the offense. I would love for Coach K to stay on staff because of his track record as an O-Line coach.

This entire line of thinking is complete and utter horse ****. You know who wants an OC that wants to come here and never leave? A losing Iowa State football program, that's who. What ISU needs is an offensive coordinator that is good enough that someone wants to hire him as a head coach because of the job that he did at ISU.

if that is the case we will also need an interpreter lol

We need a "funny" button next to the "like" button. For posts like the one quoted here-- I think it's very funny, but I just can't click "Like" on something that makes fun of Troy Davis. :jimlad:

Um, which something were you trying to make clear? The 0% thing or the bit about the idiots?

That there is 0% chance that Sage is on staff. And that those who think otherwise are idiots. It is pretty clear.

If that's the case, then he should have written "some things" or "a couple of things." Since he used the singular, I'm forced to believe that he wanted to make only one of the two statements clear. Therefore, I'd like to know which one of them it was.

One of the funniest things I have ever witnessed was teammates doing impressions of him.

Doug Meacham the Houston OC has been hired to be the OC at TCU, so if you had him on your list as a possible candidate mark him off.

Dave Christensen would be a home run hire. I just hope Rhoads is looking to hire a guy outside the program this time.

Maybe, but...

Coach rant post game - YouTube

When he was at Missouri the rumor was he talked to his players like that.

His biggest success was with Chase Daniel at QB and a lot of people thought Daniel was the real offensive coordinator at the time. Christiensen and the rest of Pinkel's staff learned the spread after getting beat twice by Urban Meyer's Bowling Green team. They went to Ohio and met with members of Meyer's staff.

Not sure he would be a good fit at ISU.

I'm want a coach that will direct the offense for several years. I don't want a coach to come in, make an impact and then leave. ISU would potentially be right back in the same spot its at now. Lots of people on here are making the claim that CPR can not make a mistake in hiring the next OC because so much is at stake (like ISU has become Texas or Oklahoma all of a sudden). This doesn't have to be an out of the park hire that will lead to a guy getting hired away after a few years. If ISU had a middle of the back ranking in yards and scoring this past year the record would be at 6-6 and more likely IMO better. I don't want an O'Keefe either but I think that was more Ferentz than anything else.

If CPR has a list of 3 or 4 guys from outside the program and can't get them here, then promote Coach K or Sturdy.
