Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

Nice theory, but that wouldn't happen. If a recruit said "I am 100% committed to Kentucky" or whoever it is, it would be a waste of money to even still try especially when he says "I'm announcing it in 4 days."
Have you played Flappy Bird before?

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

Why would he want to go to this?

UNLV Men's College Basketball - Rebels News, Scores, Videos - College Basketball - ESPN

145th best offense in the country, 6-3 in the MWC, lost to the Air Force Academy and University of Nevada-Reno

If you want to go to Ft. Collins and Boise to play basketball, be my guest...

Wouldn't you rather play for a former NBA guard with wide respect around the league in a team that's going to contend for the Big 12 each of your one/two years? Wouldn't you rather play in Austin, Lawrence, and Ames half of the time, best of all?

And 0 national exposure. Other than Arizona and UCLA, none of the teams in the west get any press or primetime games.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I'll be super annoyed if he picks UNLV, but then I'll just know he is an idiot who is probably getting paid.
That is a bit harsh. He does have a good relationship with their recruits and probably likes he is already been in Vegas for a year. That said, it would not be about on court basketball or getting better.
Actually it happens all the time. Coaches always try last ditch attempts to get big recruits to commit.
Yep, and it has me somewhat concerned. That and Matt joking he is going to church for the next 4 days.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I think he wanted to see ISU prove themselves this year and see that we have the talent to compete with him on the team next season. After watching us closely and seeing last night's game he sees that we have the talent, the coach, and the national exposure he is looking for. No more time was needed and bam he announces his plans to commit (to the good guys) over the weekend after a big time W.

That's my perspective on the situation

Who really knows what exactly he is thinking. It's really hard to be objective because 95% of us would be fulfilling a dream to commit to the Cyclones .

The timing gives me hope. Just took down a ranked team at their place on Big Monday. Having a hell of a season . There is nothing basketball-wise that he could want that couldn't happen for him at ISU.

If he chooses someone else , then so be it, our program is on a great footing.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

not much more than the other posts. but here's a quote i liked.

"My parents decided since I've already been there they trust my judgment if that's where I want to go."
(of course talking about canceling his visit to unc.

why do you 'like' that quote? Sounds as if they're giving him the okay and trust to pick UNC. Then, he goes in and is the hero at the game on his visit.

So he's going to be a hero on the visit that he's already cancelled? Maybe he'll be there via Skype, and put him up on the scoreboard during the game.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I would like to see some sort of stat that has pre-season projected finishes and then actual finishes. Like this year - we were predicted to finish pretty bad and now look at us. I think that says something about the coach actually developing talent. UNC is not doing that - they seem to play to or below their predicted talent level. Bill Self is good, but look at their preseason ranking - they were SUPPOSED to be good. If RV doesn't choose ISU then he just doesn't get it.

Take a deep breath and let this sink in.........in a 3 day span we could land Lazard and Vaughn. This makes me mildly aroused.

In 3 days you may be "Wildly" aroused if all of this comes true.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

UNLV has a great recruiting pitch for him: "Did you see who was the #1 pitch last year? Imagine what we could do for you."

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

So when he chooses will he sign his LOI right then and all the recruiting will be over?
