Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

We will be fine without him, you can find talent in a lot of places. Take the NBA game on ESPN for example. Paul George was an unranked 3 star and went to Fresno State, Damian Lilliard was a 2 star and went to Weber State, George Hill had no stars and went to IUPUI. Malou might have more potential than Vaughn.

Re: Vaughn pushes back announcement to Tuesday

What's the point, when RV announces, either way, there be complete thread\meltdown\jubilation chaos. One board may not contain it let alone one thread.

Well, we did invade HN once (or was it HR)? We just assimilate it, just like the Borg. :jimlad:

I understand that RV is a very good player. But if he is indeed one and done wouldn't the program be better served to use that scholarship on a player like Niang who will make significant contributions for 4 years?

Fred has always managed to pull a rabbit out of a hat. After Kane's success we have to be the prime spot for any one year transfer out there.

I have always thought the biggest gauranteed loss with Vaughn not committing to ISU is missing out on Fred finally landing a really big time recruit. It would be great exposure and elevate the perception of the program, and increase the chances of landing more recruits of his caliber. I am far less concerned about what we are losing in terms of actual impact on the floor next year. Even recruits as highly ranked as Rashad aren't gauranteed to play at an all conference level.

Completely agree with this! I would take Melvin Ejim over Baylor's Austin, even though Austin was a "fancy pants" recruit. Get guys who want to be in Ames and buy into the system, that's really all that matters!
By the way, this is my first post and I am pretty damn excited about it!

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Say Vaughn does end up going to UNLV. IF we landed Clark and Malou to close out the class I'd be extremely extremely happy. There are some things to be happy about if Vuaghn doesn't come here and we get our other targets.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

So, if Vaughn commits elsewhere on Tuesday, does Fred stop recruiting him? Say UNLV's coach continues to show he is in over his head, maybe there is a chance Vaughn would flip when it came time to actually sign.

So the 1-year presence of Chris Allen, Deandre Kane, Royce White, Jake Anderson, and Will Clyburn would have better served with unproven 4-year players where the talent needed developed?

Against none other than Kingdom Prep. That's Jake Sullivan's group, right?

I can't wait to sing Sullivan's praises when he brings Vaughn back to Ames with him! He took some heat on this board for not encouraging Harrison to come to ISU, but now most of us recognize what good advice that was. How cool will it be to have Jake Sullivan at his press conference? Although, I suppose that would be a recruiting violation.

Maybe Jake can challenge him to a FT shooting contest during pregame warmups. If Jake wins, Vaughn comes here. Jake should act like an old man who is past his prime, then ring 10 for 10, just like the good old days. Wonder if Vaughn has done his homework on Jake.

I would hope the door would be open as long as there is a scholly.

i don't know, carmelo anthony worked out pretty well in his one yaer in college. so did anthony davis. 4 years from any player doesn't equate to a national title. of course some 4 year players have won multiple titles. but not many.
