I am GD smart, don't have all the answers but DO know the definition of stupid...and ISU has been repeating it for years. What get old is saying the same things over and over again. I hate to break it to a lot of the "younger" folks on this site but what I'm reading, and some of what I'm saying, has been said for decades. Now, it's on a computer screen instead of over a beer and cigarette.

The "tradition" at ISU is to be ok with mediocrity and not demand more. I want to see that end and for everyone to demand more from a program that COULD be better than what it's shown. Personally, I don't believe Paul to be that guy. It's my opinion. Do I have a substitute? No. But I believe I'm still entitled to my opinion. And I have a firm grip on the situation...we suck.

Can I be GD smart?

You did see the game? We looked like Mickey Mouse throwing to Pluto the second half.

Yes I saw the game. And yes I saw the team play last year. So when we looked like Mickey Mouse throwing to Pluto in the second half, it wasn't a big surprise.

Because you don't fire one of the best coaches you ever had for having to rebuild like every other college has to do. All teams go through down years. We aren't Alabama pulling in 5 star players left and right, and never will be.

That's not saying much.

Rhoads used McCarney and Chizik recruits to make him look good. Now that all of the players are "his" we are a dumpster fire.

I agree that you're entitled to your opinions, Gossamer. I'm sure your demands will make a whole helluva lot of difference. Not! You think that just because a few thousand people demand something, that it's just going to happen? There are so many variables that come into play here that these demands are nothing more than a baby demanding his mama stick the tit in his mouth. Demand all you want. See what you get for it. You may get what you wish for...and you may be sorry as hell you did. I am not convinced PR is the guy that's gonna get it done either, but since we each have a right to express the almighty opinion, I think calling for Rhoads' job might be grasping at straws and backfire even further.

This. We may be getting more stars for recruits, but are they the NDSU hard brand of workers that perform in games. This season was sold on hope and change with the new staff, but the team effort did not even meet last years bar.

yeah for now, until they get experienced and know what they are doing without thinking. Have a good team next year and hopefully the next before rebuilding again. Are you new to football?

Good points imo. NDSU plays hard nosed and pays strict attention to the detail of fundamental football. Also, agree with your lack of effort point. We played with so little heart Saturday, even as we worked up to a 14 point lead.

well gosh FanatiClone, maybe we should all just keep up with JP's request to donate more for the ability to pay more for season tickets to football games that resemble dogs licking their backsides. I don't know what you contribute to ISU or what you plan to contribute to ISU but I think the university should have some modicum of respect for that and put out a product that at least covers the cost. WE may be right that PR is not the guy...but if you have to ask that question, don't you already have your answer?

As for your baby analogy, usually the baby gets the tit...so are you saying we'll get it? Or are you saying that people who opine that PR isn't the guy are babies?

How do you know it COULD be better? On what do you make that claim? What if occasional 6-7 win seasons mixed with the occasional 2-4 win seasons is the cycle for Iowa State?

Show me a team in a similar position to ISU that has managed to build a program in the modern era of college football and reach a higher level than we have for a sustained period of time.

I'm a little confused.

Are we rebuilding from our 6-6 team, our 5-7 team, our other 6-6 team, our yet another 6-6 team or our 3-9 team?

So you're basically satisfied with the possibility of 2 good years out of every 6?

I just don't have unrealistic expectations. It's going to take a long time to get to the point of expecting more and more often. We went all in two years ago and it didn't work. Just because it didn't work doesn't mean we get to skip the rebuild stage.

Yes I do.

Based on these stats, Mangino should be fired immediately. Screw the fact that we are 8% into the season, we need to start firing people! And quick!

What could possibly make you think we will be good next year?

Not bad for a coach who is 2-1 in his last 3 games!
