I don't give a crap on what u should or shouldn't do. If or when CPR gets shown the door, Mangino needs to be offered the job. There is no one out there that is available that can do more with less than what he can.

I just want a fresh start now. He just got a new OC, let's get a new DC and head coach too. I just want as much separation from everything that has happened since the bowl in Tulsa.

Since 98% of the fan base wants Rhoads gone by the end of the season, who would be on the short list of coaches we'd look at? I would really like to keep Mangino on the staff, but I feel he'd get ****** off if he didn't get the HC job if Rhoads was canned and just leave. Would it be time to give Mark Farley a chance at this level? I mean there are only certain amount of coaches that would want to come here (because it can ruin your career). Anybody got any other realistic names?

Coming to Ames didn't ruin Gene Chizak's career. Heck, he won a national championship after he left here!

CPR is supposed to be a defensive oriented & minded coach. Yet the Cyclones cant seem to stop anybody except Iowa.

Who at the time was one of the biggest names out there in the coaching pool. Hiring Chizik was seen as quite the coop. No one could have guessed how ****** he actually was.

Don't try to be a revisionist, it's annoying.
While Chizik was a big name I would think you always take the coach who has HC experience.

I don't know who is going to be the next coach, but I know I would like to see the offense run a more ground and pound type of a scheme.

Remember in Groundhog Day, when Murray drives the truck over the cliff and crashes, and Chris Elliot looks down and tries to comfort the love interest saying "He... could be okay"

Then the truck explodes. And he says "Well, no, probably not now"

That's how I feel about this thread at this point.

Mike Norvell, OC at Arizona State.
Phillip Montgomery, Co-OC at Baylor
Lincoln Riley, OC at East Carolina
Mark Mangino

Those would be my top targets.

While I appreciate everyone's wishful dream list CPR isn't going anywhere. JP signed a deal with the devil and we are stuck with him for at least the next 3-4 years. We don't have the money or the boosters to buy out the contract.

Mike Norvell, Scott Frost, Chad Morris from the coordinator pool. I'm of the opinion we need a young, offensive mind here as I'm convinced we'll never have a good defense.

Tony Levine, Mcelwain, and Holliday from the current head coach pool would be acceptable.

I think a ball control power running scheme could throw a wrench in to the Big 12 but it would take at least 5 years to get the pieces in place to make that work effectively.

I think you make a call to both McElwain and Bohl in that order. If either is interested, you pull the trigger. I don't think Rhoads has an ounce of credibility left. It pains me to write that because I think he is a great fit for ISU in all the intangibles - he's simply failed on every level at this point on the measurables. This team isn't going to win again. Whether you do it now or wait a year. I think you just make a big splash with the new stadium and new regime, and move on. I think Rhoads is done.
