Has anybody done the math already? This is stuff for an actuary.
Buyout this year, X, Buyout next year, Y, Buyout the year after Z. (I realize you can use the same variable...)
# of season tickets sold with keeping CPR this year, next year, etc vs # of tickets sold with replacement.
What would a contract be for the next coach. Do you hire Harbaugh, Kelly, Saban at $10 million/year, which would help boost season tickets, or a Bohl-type guy and pay him $750-$1 million, and maybe boost ticket sales? What length of contract? (Calculate this cost on top of CPRs buyout)
To me, ISU is unfortunately not in the position to do any of the above options no matter how many season tickets go down. Not today, I highly doubt even next year. Does that make me or anybody happy? Not at all. But we took a huge risk to keep CPR when we did because he was wanted elsewhere. Now we are in a hole with no Auburn or Creighton waiting in the wings. I think some of us just choose to support where we are with who we have then take the above risk and not be guaranteed ****.
Does this make sense?
