I put Nader at 9 just for now. I still think he makes a big impact and eventually passes Edozie for minutes. He just hasn't got into his rhythm yet.

I saw a lot of improvement from Nader in the Arkansas game. He's so long. I think he will continue to get better. And Edozie's improvement is the biggest surprise of the season for me. 9 very solid contributors.

From a rotation standpoint, I'm not real big on Long and Thomas being the first two guys off the bench even though that's what happened a lot of last year. I'd be inclined to leave the starting 5 the way they are and then bring McKay and Thomas off the bench. I like the idea of Long & Hogue and then Thomas & McKay getting minutes together.

The poll above should have three options:

SURE STARTERS = MM, BDJ, Niang

CANDIDATES = Hogue, Naz, McKay (the poll is for the 1/3 who is "out")

The loser above is probably the Sixth Man, either for shooting (Naz), energy (Hogue), or defense/rebounding (McKay).

Looks like Thomas is the "new Naz" as the bench shooter/scorer.

Nader still needs to hit some stride, but he's going to backup the mid-sized roles for now.

Edozie and Custer look to have whatever is left over in spot minutes.

The whole country is going to know that soon. I can just see Brent Musberger, after talking about Nerlens Noel, talking about how Hogue and McKay used to play with each other at Indian Hills.

Brent solidified Georges before/after pic as the arbitrary mention during every ISU game.

One thing to keep in mind, Hogue and McKay coming from IHCC means they are used to playing in a rotation of 10+ guys. The effort, unselfishness and team mentality that develops is underrated. Its the best thing about bringing in IHCC kids, they have already bought into the idea that they aren't bigger than the program.

Depends in match up but don't think it matters. I think at this point the guy who will be sitting more the most will be nader. I think hogue will play a lot more 3 but also a lot of 4. Front court minutes 4/5 in order:
1 Niang 33
2 mckay 32
3 hogue 10
4 Edozie 5

Wing/sf minutes:
1.Hogue 20
2. BDJ 18
3.nader 2

Backcourt minutes:
1. Morris 36
2. Long 20
3. BDJ 14
4. Thomas 10
5. Custer (spot/situational)

Overall mpg:
1. Morris 36
2. Niang 33
3. BDJ 32
4. Mckay 32
5. Hogue 30
6. Long 20
7. Thomas 10
8. Edozie 5
9. Nader 2
10. Custer <1
I imagine Fred will play some guys more or less in certain situations depending on fouls, performance and match ups but based on play to date and speculation in McKay this is how I would imagine the ideal average minute distribution once McKay is in full swing will be.

Even though we joke and light heartedly complain about this stuff, we used to only dream about this kind of PR. I love CFH.

I think part of Hogue's struggles this year is that he is playing most of his minutes at the 4 as opposed to the 3 where he played the most last year. I'm not so sure McKay starts right away, but I bet when he does we'll start with the taller lineup and bring the energy/3 point shooting of Naz off the bench.

Custer makes the Cardinal platoon solid after the Gold Platoon.

Yeah if Naz and Thomas continue to play well or if Nader gets it figured out I can see the top 5 each losing a minute or 2 and those guy picking up a few more minutes each. But I could just as easily see 5 guys getting 80% of the minutes like I have it here. Iowa bench had much more than 20% of minutes.

I love Naz but people forget he had a stretch last year where he didn't play much. @ okie st was one of his biggest moments but he barely played until foul trouble forced Fred's hand. If Georges doesn't foul out, theres a good chance Naz isn't event on the floor to hit that big shot. I only bring that up bc there were clearly games last year Fred thought other guys gave us a better match up. I'd say his minutes will be the most flexible of the 3 the OP mentioned.
