How many wins will it take?

How many games does the team have to win this fall for you to personally believe things are heading in the right direction and the Iowa State football program is in good hands with Rhoads?

(Regardless of what you expect to happen.)

With the ease of the first 4 games, if this team does not make a bowl game, I'm done believing. Im hanging on by a thread right now.

I honestly don't even know how to answer my own question. I guess I'd say 7 wins because losing another insignificant bowl game and finishing with a losing record isn't impressive. I'm still not sure about the years beyond that though; even if we do win 7 this season.

All I want is around 6 wins every year. If we can get to a bowl game most years, I will be happy. Shouldnt be too difficult......

This is the nonsense that makes me laugh, since it's been damn near impossible for ISU to do so.

I want that too. But shouldn't be too difficult? What ******* CFB program have you been watching for the last - well - forever?

My post has nothing to do with our current coaching staff and everything to do with common sense.

I understand that its not easy to consistently win in CFB, but, any half decent coach should be able to recruit, develop, and coach players that are able to compete in their conference and win 6 games. We should be able to get 2 or 3 wins just from our non con schedule every year. That means 3 or 4 wins in the Big 12. I know the Big 12 is tough, but we cant consistently beat Kansas, Tech, and get an upset or two most years?

As with basketball I'm all about the conference. CPR has never gotten more than 3 BigXII wins in one season.

I need him to get back to 3 BigXII wins to save anything for me. (and even 3 shows just how bad we still are against the BigXII)

6 or bust.

With the attrition going on, 6 wins with this outfit would impress me.

I would have fired Rhoads after last season, and have zero faith in his leadership or vision. But if he can get this hovel to 6 wins, I would reconsider that stance.

so what your saying is that Iowa State has NEVER had a decent coach then?

Under 6 wins - Fire him
6 wins over the 6 worst teams on our schedule and getting embarrassed in a bowl - Fire him
7+ wins - Keep him

Basically, if he finally has us competing with the top teams in the conference and gets to a bowl keep him around. We don't need to beat Baylor, TCU, or Oklahoma and we don't need to be in the conference title race, but we need to at least look competitive. No losing to UNI, no losing to Kansas, no 40 point losses. It's year 7. Most places aren't this nice about failure as we have been with Rhoads. We need to look like we we are going somewhere, which is why I would fire him for scenario 2.

I think I could emotionally hang my hat on 5 wins as long as there are some positives in some of the other games and/or one or more of the wins is against Oklahoma, Texass, or KState.

And no end of season fade to a crappy team like what happened the year ISU lost the Smurf Bowl.

If we win any less than 6 im going to be done with CPR, hes had enough time now and its been a steady decline since hes been here.
