I whole heartedly agree with the below statement. It is nip and tuck. I think Morris could be the greatest, but would like to see more as he developes.

I'm going to let Morris finish more than a year and a quarter of his career before I make a judgment.

You post the most insane things on this site. Seriously, why would you want to troll Cyclone Fanatic? Aren't there much more fun sites to troll than this one?

...couldn't watch tonight, but his 2nd half vs. OU was very Kane-like, in a good way.

When all is said and done, I think MM will be ISU'sa version of Mateen Cleaves, and a NC banner hanging in Hilton.

JT played what 12 years in the league and I think he's still playing actually. They both have great qualities. Tinsley was a TO machine but part of that was guys weren't expecting the passes and MM rarely turns it over. If I had to pick one to play in a title game though it would be JT in his prime hands down. Dude could do things with the ball that I have yet to see duplicated. He was also a better defender IMO when he tried, lol. But I might change my mind in a couple years who knows.

Monte's numbers are ridiculous. Scoring, A/TO ratio, shooting %, etc.

I loved Tinsley, but I like Monte even more. But which one is better is very difficult to compare. Tinsley made jaw-dropping plays--consistently making plays that are among the best college basketball point guard plays. Monte isn't as jaw-dropping, but that is because he takes fewer chances, and therefore commits fewer turnovers. I think that Monte might actually be a better scorer though.

That lob to McKay was pretty jaw-dropping.

Tinsley helped win the big 12. Btw i love monte but tinsley would leave his jock on the floor if Monte was guarding him.

Tinsley led ISU to two conference titles, he is the main reason we won after Fizer, Nurse and Johnson left. ISU lost 3 starters but still won it in JT's second season. So I give the nod to JT as the best pg ever for ISU. For Morris, it is to early to say. He keeps getting better and if he hasn't topped out, then yeah he has the chance to be the best ever. Special mention should go to Hornacek, he played in at the time a VERY rugged Big 8. Plus in his days coach Orr was able to get us quality non conference games against national powers.

I always bump this thread because I think it is a good discussion. I don't think it was fair to Monte to start this thread in the non-con of his sophomore season. Tinsley>Morris, but I don't think the gap is cavernous. Monte is really starting to establish himself down the stretch.

Tinsley had a great 1st year at ISU, but didn't he have a phenomenal NCAA tournament that elite 8 year? I seem to remember not being nervous about losing him to the NBA during the season, but thought that his tournament run may have made him want to declare. I could be way off on that though, I was in high school at the time.

I'm no farmer, but I'll make this analogy. Tinsley is more the show horse and Morris is the more work horse. Both are incredibly incredibly valuable to their team.

At this point I would give the edge to Tinsley. The guy could dominate the entire game from the PG position on offense and defense. Monte Morris is closing fast and improving constantly. Plus Monte has the ability to play both guard positions while Tinsley was almost strictly a PG. So edge to Tinsley for now........quite likely that it ends up being Monte when his career is done.
