It's also a recruiting dead period right now, so I wouldn't think anything will happen this week.

It baffles me how far out of his recruitment we got after TJ left.

We went from full interest, to absolutely no interest. No offer.

Either that or NN had absolutely no interest in ISU without TJ.

It just seems weird to me. You would think Fred would've stuck with TJ's evaluation and kept after him if Hoiberg himself was cool with it.

its weird for sure.

Every time NN was looking for a new school (after we initially recruited him), Iowa state did not show any interest despite signs that NN would be interested in iowa state v

Back up plan to Payne?

No. The staff is doing a final evaluation of NN based on recent changes, and if they make the decision to bring him in, NN will jump at the offer. He loves ISU and the opportunity here and it's just a matter of Fred feeling comfortable with his mental state.

So since Payne is an Ames now and wants to play PG wherever he goes they're going to go all in one on one of them I would guess

That's already 3/5 of a decent starting lineup we've appropriated from them.

:jimlad:

Anybody know how this guy compares to Custer except being a year younger (and a year less under the shadow of the Destroyer of Worlds that is Monte Morris)?

Didn't Scotty C go there also?

If TJ can get some bigs on board that like to run (like, I don't know, a Diallo for example), it would be very beneficial to having more than one true PG on the team. I haven't watched much video on NN (a couple Youtube's) and all I know of the kid is what's been said on this and the other thread (be it true or false). But if he's got whatever it was now behind him, and he enjoys playing a true point I would be happy to see him here (and preferably as a redshirt this season). Having somebody to keep pushing Monte this coming season, and then offering him some breathers when he comes back as a senior (yes, I've already penciled him in as a quality 4yr guy that simply loves Iowa State) would be awesome.

This would be a great addition this late if we can land this kid. Groom him to be a good replacement for Monte'.
