Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

I REALLY hope I'm wrong but I have a buddy with fairly good connections throughout both basketball programs and he's heard Fred to the Bulls is all but official. Apparently he told the ISU players his intentions to leave last week. TJ was brought in on purpose: to be the interim head coach for one year.

I want to be wrong here because I want CFH to be here forever but if my buddy is saying this I have to believe him because he has no reason to lie to me and he loves ISU basketball just as much as me.

Of course he prefaced everything he told me by saying this is what is the situation right now but as we all know people can change their minds in an instant.

He went in to further detail but I can either explain or not once the news is official. If I give too much detail and then I'm wrong I would really dig my own grave.

Why the hell would we have a 1 year interim coach with a top 10 team?

the only thing stupider than hiring tj without trying to get someone comparable to who we've lost is hiring him on an interim basis.

Well yeah, bc what she said was destined to happen anyway..
Bulls lost.
Next:
Thibs will probably get fired.
Bulls pursue Fred.

The rest nobody knows.

Short of a title Thibs was done in Chicago...then the way they lost gave some more reason to can him. I went from Thibs supporter to indifferent depending on who they bring in. You can't win in the nba playoffs with the scoring droughts they've had regularly.

REPORT: There will be various reports about the reportedly open position of Chicago Bulls head coach that will be reportedly to be going to various and numerous current and former head and/or assistant coaches. All such reports shall have their own *** Official *** thread made about them so the panic and/or jubilation of the fan base can be managed.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

If we make TJ the intern coach for one ******* year Pollard should be fired on the spot.

Welp, I haven't weighed in on this topic yet with my worthless 2 cents, but here goes. I think there is two sides to this:

1) It is absolutely clear that the Bulls want to hire Fred and that Fred has expressed interest in listening.

2) It doesn't make any sense to happen this year. I don't see how the Bulls hire someone 1 month past open heart surgery who won't be able to participate fully in draft prep, offseason camps, free agent evaluation, etc. And I don't see how Fred could sign up for a VERY stressful, exhausting job just after that surgery.

My bottom line is, due to the surgery there is almost no way Fred goes to the Bulls this year. After next year? I'd completely believe it. But not this year.

It's more about Fred moving to the NBA than what he's leaving behind. It's been his goal the whole time.

Actually almost everything jsb's said, APPEARS to be happening.

Not really proven wrong or right yet, but the smoke seems to be lining up in the direction of what she's been worried about.
well, duh, it was clearly going to play out like this.

Read the rest of the paragraph, I didn't mean not this year because of the ISU team. I meant not this year because of his health. But obviously he's dealt with this for a long time and knows his body and what he can handle.

One thought...it could be really late by the time an official announcement is made...perhaps too late to conduct a proper search or convince a desired coach to switch??? In any case, I very much dislike the idea...

So no one wants to read what I'm hearing from someone who I consider knowledgable? Okay, I'll stop posting then.

Of course it will be too late. That's why we will get tj. But you can't hire him on an interim basis. He's having a hard time recruiting for a coach who isn't even gone yet.

Like I said, I hope I'm wrong and even my buddy said he hopes he is wrong but it is what he is hearing that the moment.

Just because you consider him "knowledgeable" doesn't mean the rest of us have to.

Possibly.

At the same time, Fred was hired roughly 5 years and 2 weeks ago.
