but good God is Malanti's the bomb. It'll make Fred as wide as a semi-truck but he'll love every minute of it.

Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

You mean, like this:

"Who’s next? It’s too early to tell but I fully expect that Hoiberg already has a good idea as to who he wants to bring on board. I expect it to be someone who Fred has a prior relationship to. The name T.J. Otzelberger has been floating around quite a bit. That would make sense as the former Greg McDermott/Hoiberg assistant bolted for Washington a few years ago and the Huskies haven’t exactly set the world on fire. However, Otzelberger has an interview to become the next head man at Green Bay this weekend. He’s also in the mix to become the head coach at Northern Kentucky."

When CW writes like this, I listen. In the current situation, he knows that Hoiberg is thinking more seriously about the NBA than before, so he reports accordingly. He and Jeremy wouldn't give percentages that included a good chance that Hoiberg stays if they knew it was a done deal for him to go. They would just say something like "Cyclones fans, get ready because it may really happen."

If you notice that link that you posted about TJ having an interview at Green Bay was posted back in March and TJ was still on the payroll at Washington. I read that one of the things in TJ's one year contract with ISU was that he was not to actively seek outside employment during that year. Instead of figuring out who could be Fred's replacement I think we should show him some love and support by talking about how much we want him to stay.

You can't tell me after all of this time he doesn't know what he wants to do.

Having been in a similar situation I can say that thinking you want to make the move and actually doing it are very different things. When **** gets real you contemplate everything and factor a lot of things you take for granted. It is always easier to stay than go. I was all but gone to a job in Michigan that doubled my salary and gave me a bigger challenge that I wanted proffesionally.

I went house hunting in fact with my then 6 year old On the way to Dayton for the tourney. On the way home we heard on the radio the speculation that Fred may go to Minnesota and my son said "dad Fred wouldn't really go would he". I said " no this is his home this is where his family is he wants to build something special here because It's his home I don't think he will go anywhere for a while.". He said "dad but this is our home this is where our family is and you are trying to build something here so why would we leave?" . Little stinker confirmed in 6 year old logic that was brewing inside. I realized how big of a gamble it was, I love my job my proximaty to family and things I love for a situation I din't know and my kids wouldn't have a "home" this was their home and if we moved they wouldn't have that. I had to call Michigan folks and tell them I needed another week to think before pulling the trigger. I stayed. Moving family when you have a special deal is really hard to compete against. I was all but gone and I stayed. Just saying.

If Fred leaves, I quit being a Bulls fan and he is dead to me.

Bad news folks, Chris Williams tweeted a photo of himself and his daughter with a statue of Harry Caray in Chicago.

It's over, pack it in, good run.

You have to look twice at the photo because it looked like Chris was wearing a cutoff t-shirt with no arms at first glance. I was about to say, "way to class it up Williams". :jimlad:

Agree, except I think while fred may have told them "he'll think about it" probably that was just cover to avoid a circus disrupting paige's party. Things will move quick now that that is out of the way...most likely not the way we want it. You don't have to wait for a party to be done to tell Chicago "no."

Yeah, him turning down the job wouldn't create a distraction either...give me a break.

I might be committing Harry Caray if this doesn't turn out well for us.

It wouldn't create a bunch of local family and friends coming over to your house to hear you are moving on your daughters graduation day. Sorry if you can't see that.

Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

I wouldn't question the decision Fred makes to go the NBA. I'd question the timing. Gotta give ISU one more year. NBA jobs open up like telemarketing positions. Constantly. Coach this ultra talented roster you spent years building and then ride off to the NBA. If TJ or someone else is coaching ISU next season and we fall short of our goals, everyone will wonder what might have been. Like if Fizer had come back.......

And the Bulls job isn't a good one, Fred will be expected to fix the offense of a team that's built to win with defense. He'll get almost no slack and without major roster moves won't be able to compete against Lebron. Thibs's tenure in chi town can be summed up with two words, injuries and Lebron. In all honesty they aren't far from falling into rebuild mode, in the NBA coaches don't survive rebuilds. There are jobs with less talented rosters that would suit Fred much better.

That and is it just me or is Jimmy Butler the next Lance Stephenson? He's going to get found out.

Tim Floyd can offer Fred a little guidance on this one.

Have you been watching the playoffs?

Ok that definitely makes a person think of it differently.

I saw a Southern New Hampshire U ad on tv this morning. Maybe we could get their coach to come over.
