Exactly. Every day that Thibs is still the coach of the Bulls is great news for ISU as the Bulls aren't going to fire him without having their first or second choice of new coach already lined up.

It's not that clear cut.

For the Bulls, I think the order is:

1) Identify their coaching targets - Done (Just Fred)
2) Get a commitment from their target
3) Trade Thibs
4) Announce new coach.

It's been stated on here (I don't know the accuracy), that a trade of Thibs can't be announced until the playoffs are over. If that's the case, then 1-3 could be done and we are just waiting several weeks for #4.

Derek and Butler do not get along and there rest are getting older. Bulls job could be open in three years.

Wish fred the best but the Bulls job is a disaster in the making. Roster as is better make conf finals next year cause after this year many players will be gone and then its a dismantling. Cleveland and Celtics will be better than Bulls.

I don't say this often, but listen to the M&M podcast from yesterday part 1 with Dave Kaplan. This isn't breaking today.

You also need to listen to that interview.

Sounds like Gentry has already met with the Pelicans per CBS reports. Sounds like they would prefer him vs paying 2 years on the Thibs deal.

Most Bulls fans I know who aren't ISU fans just see Floyd again with Hoiberg.

This. I listen to Chicago sports radio and Fred does not get their juices flowing. Of course that's all fixed if they win. He would have tremendous expectations right out of the gate, and it could get ugly quick if he doesn't make a deep playoff run right away.

Several players where at airports yesterday flying back to Ames. Pretty much answers the question. And if it is TJ. Then JP just punched his ticket out of ISU. Why would u hire TJ when u can retain him on staff? Makes zero sense. I would call Jared Haase....would be great hire and the guy can coach...his teams rebound and play defense hard and that's what wins championships.

And Haase would leave in 5 years to coach KU.

Any head coach that wants to be at ISU should be on the telephone to JP today. I would bet that several agents are. My stock for Otz has risen in all of this. He turned down some good opportunities to be a head coach to come back. It looks to be all 100% gamble, as he will be a final option if nothing better comes along. On top of all that, if he is made interim coach and does not make a final four next year (which will only be the first time in school history) the message boards will hang him in effigy. Guy has some guts.

Do you perceive a scenario developing of "Fred is leaving and here is our new coach announcement?"

Jerod Haase over TJ? I get not wanting TJ but Jerod Haase ayfkm? He got his team to rebound and play defense for 4 games at the end of the season. All of the stupid around here.

While I agree Haase would be ridiculous, may want to ease up in the "stupid" call outs...if I recall correctly, you were one saying that about those who called all this happening about 5 weeks ago...
