Adding a quick update that 2 other sources are now saying things could be hitting reverse a bit to heavily consider the TWolves opportunity for next year rather than take the Bulls this year. #1 draft pick really changed things and I wouldn't at all be surprised to hear that Fred will be back - only to have a behind the scenes "in principle" agreement to coach the TWolves next year. Mixed feelings on how that would benefit ISU given our big recruiting needs for next year.

So if this does happen, do you think Fred will tell the Wolves who he wants to draft with the #1 pick?

I feel like if Fred is here one more year, we will for sure have Oltz as the next coach to keep the continuity for the program and the recruits that they will be trying to get knowing that Hoiberg will be gone. I think the guy deserve a chance, so I'm all aboard.

Not sure if what I'm hearing is a result of 1) a real change of heart, 2) consideration of TWolves job, or 3) attempt to put pressure on Bulls to move quicker. The dynamics of these things are always so much more fluid than people want to believe (much like recruiting) so it'll be interesting to see how things progress with organic leaks vs on-purpose positioning.

I might have stumbled on the master plan and why it's taking so long to work out the details. All of the info from the sources in this thread might have some truth to them.

Fred is trying to work out a deal to coach 3 teams next season. He starts the season with the T-wolves which allows Flip to work on his GM duties and Otz a chance to try his hand at leading a team. He comes back and coaches the Cyclones for the conference season through the NCAA tournament run. Then Thibs goes on a two month yacht trip around the world while Fred guides the Bulls though the end of the season and the NBA playoffs.

He takes three months off while Otz brings in the recruits, the NBA guys fill out their rosters, and then does it again.

I would rather he go this year than do that. Ya it would be a fun 2015-2016, kind of like the last stand in Fury, but in the end the hit it would take to recruiting would suck ***.

How did the #1 pick change anything? They were a lock for #1 or 2 back in early April.

Flipped between channels yesterday and 'ol Bankruptcy & lawsuit himself was telling us to get a life and we should be embarrassed for what was happening on the board. Yet here he was trolling looking for content. A website owned by a competitor

And yes - my CD player spit out a disc choking on the irony of it all.

Marty...? He is still around? I thought he died years ago... oh well... his career did.

They were a lock for the top 4. They could have slid just like the Knicks. Also, if the Knicks would have not beat the Twolves in the 2nd to last game of the year, the Wolves would have had the second spot in the lottery and would be in the same position as the Knicks.

It kind of weirds me out how everyone knows Pagie's life. Is that odd to anyone else? Maybe it's readily available information, but still....

Yes, I think it's really odd. Almost as odd as those weird colored socks she's wearing in her events at state track today.

Can you even imagine how bat **** crazy the fans will be next year if he does come back thinking its the last year? People will be losing their **** over every turnover. And if it results in anything less than an elite 8 run will be a total failure.

Maybe have a better chance to get JH if Fred doesn't go until next yr.

I agree with your premise that if JP agrees to this, he is agreeing to TJ as the next coach.

I do not agree that TJ would be a good choice for where we are in the program, I have stated my opinion in other posts, but if JP, who knows more than me, wants to take that risk then I will still write the checks.

Fred back for only one year is not good for the program long term and I am developing a disagreement with JP's statement that Fred has earned the right to look at NBA opportunities. If Fred's dream starts affecting my dream of a good Cyclone BB program long term, then he should go now, not next year. Starting to seem selfish on Fred's part to me.

Agree...not healthy for anyone in that situation. If I'm Pollard I honestly say sign a bigger buy out clause if you want to coach here another year. At least ISU would get something more than 500k when he walks that following year.

JP knows Hilton will be sold out if Fred returns. End of discussion.
