We know that. Not expecting big minutes out of the guy. I just hope he can match up with those Top 250 forwards Fran is bringing in.

Now go away.
Agreed.

If we're going to take on a project I'd rather it be a 6-8 kid from Iowa than a 7-footer from Greece with no potential.

Im with you, lets tie up a scholly for 4 years so he *maybe* doesnt put up some numbers against us two times. I say welcome aboard, but I'm certainly hoping for some bigger recruits in the future.

Not many scholarship guys sit on the bench for four years anymore...

Color me skeptical. Hopefully it works out but he is clearly the lowest recruited guy we have gotten in years.

Doesn't prevent him from being a good player for us of course.

I'd have preferred any transfer or a JUCO.

It seems like a 4 year scholly commitment to have a practice body, which Prohm was talking about a lot.

You are correct, I was trying to dispute the "lets keep him away from UNI line of thought. I hope he develops and is productive in the next year or two, but to think we need to steal recruits from the likes of UNI is laughable.

this is a major reach. I dont think he had a single other D1 offer left on the table, let alone high major.

This isn't a "major reach", this is a who the **** cares we are top 5 and we need somebody to practice. Probably won't be around long.

He finished 2nd in the 2014 4A State High Jump clearing 6-6.
I found some basketball game footage on Hudl.

Thanks for posting.

Anyone who is 6' 8" and can create the speed and has the body control to high jump 6'6" has potential to be a good rebounder. Video looks okay and if he works hard and can learn a lot from Niang for the next year, he has potential.

Welcome, good luck!

The more I think about it, the more I like it. Kid gives us some warm-body depth for this year in case we need him. Kid is a developmental kid that has a chance of paying out. I've obviously posted some TJ success stories in that area, and at the same time, I'm fully aware of many that haven't. Regardless, this presents a chance for success from a coach who HAS proven he CAN produce them. Next, Prohm talked about wanting to even out the classes anyway and how he likely won't even use all of the 2016-2017 scholarships, meaning there is already two years here where the scholly would likely go useless if it wasn't filled by this kid. Lastly, you are absolutely right that guys that don't pan out usually don't sit on the bench for 4 years, so if this kid doesn't pan out at all, I'd say there is a slim chance of him sticking around after our trial 2 years anyway. Overall, I see this as a win-win with nothing to lose and a chance at gain. At a minimum, it gives us another warm-body post for one year.
