I havnt read through all of the thread, so I dont know if its been pointed out to you, but Ott also said that they play other opponents fight songs, too. Not just ISUs

Yeah it got pointed out recently. Sounds like they do the fight song for all road games and posters for ISU only

This game is tough to predict because you can almost never use the previous week's results as a baseline.

Just based on previous years, probably safe to say that it will be agonizingly close, and ISU will have a number of missed opportunities that leave us all saying, "If we had converted that 3rd and 1, or not fumbled the ball at the end zone, we'd be winning by 3 TDs right now."

Yet ISU makes just plays to win and we all feel like dying.

ISU 23-21.

Completely agree. Just insert "Iowa" where you have "ISU" and its the same way for me.

Ah, and you're measuring his success as a coach to be completely based off of his victories against us. Unfortunately, he's finished in the AP-Top 10 4 times in his tenure and has, contrary to what you think, been a proven winner in college football. There are 12 games on the schedule to win. He wins most of them, year in and year out. As for recruiting, his class for next year is ranked in the top-40 by every major site. Aren't you the guy who cares so deeply about recruiting sites? Lol, next.

If ISU had to play...Rutgers, Purdue, north Texas, ILL st, maryland(bad Maryland), horrible Nebraska team, Illinois...we would probably be winning a lot more games too.

Yeah I'm sure they hang up posters of all the opponents and move trophy cases too. The facts are there, Iowa at least prepares more for this game than anything else. Anyone with a set of eyes can tell they are really fired up and play with a lot of intensity in the game as well

In their defense, the trophy case is easy to since it's empty. They lost all rival trophy games last year.

I think it's going to be tight. KF in tight games vs. ISU = pain for Iowa fans.

ISU 24
Iowa 20

Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face. If this is a close game, which I think it will be, KF will fall back into the habits he's developed for 15+ years. Conservative and predictable offense. Squishy defense. Horrible clock management and coaching at crunch time. Hope I'm wrong.

If Iowa is conservative I can't see them winning. They either need to just run us over, or come out guns blazing. At some point Jack Trice will take that game over, and ISU will get the lift they need. No idea on the score. Given up trying at this point. Clones win.

Prediction from CollegeFootballNews.com:

http://collegefootballnews.com/2015/iowa-vs-iowa-state-fearless-prediction-preview

This might be the biggest Iowa-Iowa State game in a long time. A phenomenal rivalry game over the years, the last four were each decided by less than a touchdown with all of them thrillers. This time around, Iowa comes in after throttling a really, really good Illinois State team that some thought (cough, cough) was going to pull off the upset. Iowa State crushed an always dangerous Northern Iowa squad.

Iowa (1-0) at Iowa State (1-0)
Saturday, September 12 - 3:30 p.m. - FOX

Why You Need to Care
Could Iowa State actually be good? It's a lot to dive into one win over an FCS team and think big things are about to follow, but with a great receiving corps and the hope for an improved defense, this could be a great start with Toledo up next followed by the Kansas free space and Texas Tech. With the brutal part of the schedule to come in the second half, every win is a big deal -- especially when it's over the hated in-state brother.

Really, the win over Illinois State was better than you might think. The defense swarmed all over the FCS title contender, while the offense was good enough to make it a laugher. With Pitt and North Texas up next -- both games at home -- putting away Iowa State could lead to a huge start before going to Wisconsin. It's only after one game, but this looks like the type of team that should rise up and improve in a big way as the season goes on. Losing to Iowa State for a second year in a row, though, would be devastating.

Why Iowa Will Win
The Hawyekes put the clamps down on former Indiana quarterback Tre Roberson and the Illinois State passing game and it has the talent and potential to close down the terrific Iowa State receivers -- or at least slow them. The concerns about the losses on the defensive front, at least so far, are gone. Iowa's line held the Redbirds to 35 yards on 28 carries, helped by five sacks and ten tackles for loss. Iowa State needs time to make the passing game go, and it's probably not going to get it.

Why Iowa State Will Win
The Cyclone passing game should be able to spread it around. Sam Richardson has done this before, throwing for 255 yards and two touchdowns in last year's win over Iowa, and throwing for 260 yards and three touchdowns in the near-miss in 2013. Razor sharp to start the year, he hit 21-of-29 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns, and he should be able to keep his cool and use most of his options once again.

Player Who Matters
The hope was for Iowa State to find more pop for the pass rush from somewhere, and Dale Pierson came through in the opener. The 6-2, 249-pound senior had a breakout game with three sacks against Northern Iowa, and he even came up with an interception. The former JUCO transfer only came up with two sacks last season with 29 tackles, and now the spotlight is on to see if he can keep his game going on a regular basis. He needs to get into Iowa QB C.J. Beathard's face from the start.

What's Going to Happen
It's Iowa vs. Iowa State -- it's going to be a close, tight battle. The Cyclones will move the ball through the air, but the Hawkeyes will stuff the ground game cold and will take advantage of two big turnovers to pull out a thriller.

Prediction
Iowa 31, Iowa State 27

I think the ISU offense will be a little more efficient than they were against UNI. 17 points on 5 trips in the redzone is really bad. Some of that had to do with bad luck. Possibility of 13 extra points in similar situations in any other game. Though Iowa will conduct a few long drives. They seemed to be a little less conservative than normal. But I didn't see anything that would cause me to be more concerned coming into the game than in any other year.

Game will be decided by ISU's ability ( or inability) to move the ball.

28-24 ISU with the scores more likely to miss high than low.

Though I have ISU scoring 28, I would be hard pressed to believe Cole Netten doesn't kick at least one field goal. So my prediction is inconsistent, and thus, meaningless.
