Its ok guys, we're a football school anyway

Bobcats is Hines...Hines is Bobcats, I knew it

We spent way too much getting recruits, but not as much as SMU

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

Well...it seems to be kind of blowing up already, at least on here. If he doesn't want to blow up the university, he probably should have told the leakers to keep their mouths shut, since they are likely on his "side" of things.

Exactly. The sources were hoiberg people. Hell, I'm guessing his family was involved as some sources And you can bet your *** Matt a wouldn't talk about it without talking to Fred. And if this is part of why he left, then it should come out.

But fred can't play both sides. He can't have completely clean hands in this.

Maybe this is why Fred told him not to counter offer the Bulls to keep him, Pollard was already throwing the other raises in his face.

probably more of his relationship with the athletic department as a whole. if he gets his press pass pulled he's essentially be out of a job. Not sure of ISU's history with that but it's not uncommon at all.

Our state is small and local media tight. They will moan and make an issue until he gets it.

Exactly. That's the thing...there are lots of Top10 coaches in football and basketball that are pretty well known for being jerks to everyone...not Fred. And he is classy. Remember that interview he gave as he was getting on the plane at the Ames Airport on the way to Chicago? That was classy and a way to say thank you during a tense time...didn't have to, but wanted to.

I honestly could see Fred, some day, being the AD.

I would bet good money on this happening, and I would be happy about it. That guy never fails, at anything. Born winner.

If we have donors able to pool 5 million per year to burn on one coaches salary (paying him as much as Bill Self) than ISU should be able to top 18 million in total AD donations.

Maybe they aren't sold on how the AD is being ran.

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

Somebody tell me if I captured all the allegations

-Made to check out of a hotel at a normal time for a late flight. Which honestly seems pretty standard and I don't know why someone would expect otherwise. Maybe that isn't done for the NBA but I have zero problem with this and complaining about it seems super petty. The fact that Hines led with this, to me, diminishes the rest of the article. Makes it seem like a hit piece.
-Talking up Hoiberg's contract and making it seem larger than it was. This is a legit complaint and I could totally see it causing issues if Jamie was claiming Hoiberg was a top ten paid coach when he wasn't even in the top half of the conference.
-Shaming Hoiberg over his contract. This is a huge deal. You don't passive aggressively try to make your star employee feel bad for getting paid.
-Charging coaches families for transportation. I don't think we know enough to know if this is a "meh" or worth complaining about. Stuff like that is spelled out in contracts and coaches shouldn't automatically get to bring their families on work travel. The only reason this might be something is because people in the AD brought family members along (but that might have been part of their compensation)
-Taking away complementary tickets for assistant coaches. This is a legit complaint and the type of thing an accountant who doesn't consider the real life implications of his actions would do.
-Pressure to go away from transfers. This is a pretty big deal and would obviously cause friction. Let Me Mayor Coach?
-Not wanting to pay Hoiberg what he was worth. He's the reason you have all those new donors, Jamie. They are donating more so they can get good seats to watch Hoiball. Pay the man and don't even make him ask.

Well we know where this comes from Pollard opening his yap about the NCAA curtailing the ability of kids to transfer.

Pollard tends to stick his foot in his mouth from time to time..

Exactly those donors are holding out on us

This article by Hines is just the last part of our elaborate plan for page clicks on CycloneFanatic.com.

Don't be so sure... I know a lot of the big donors and higher ups in the AD office feel exactly the same way and would be happy to be sources for this.

By ****** you mean happy? Leath probably co-wrote the article. The process of moving Jamie out has started, Leath can now go get his guy.

Damn straight. Now we don't have to fire CPR. The new AD can take care of that, along with the new coaching search.

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

I just solved another conspiracy:

Chris Williams posed as "almost double digit sources" in order to get this article printed and posted on CF so the website can get clicks. Chris "Clickbait" Williams strikes again :)

Kind of along the lines of what I was thinking. With respect to Hoiberg, I can envision three groups who would leak this:
1) Those who don't care about their relationship with Hoiberg
2) Those who care about their relationship with Hoiberg and had his OK
3) Not very wise people who care about their relationship with Hoiberg but didn't have his OK

Re: Hoiberg and ISU admin relationship

It's a long sentence, but complete. It basically says the AD didn't want as many transfers going forward.
It helps if you take out the large side comment.
The athletic department insinuated it would like to see the transfer model curtailed, sources said.

I have no reason to doubt the honesty of Travis' reporting, it just seems like there is a lot of jumping to conclusions going on from a single article. I'm not defending JP or Travis here, I don't feel I have enough data to make a rational decision. JP has done 160 million in improvements by doing things the "cheap" way, and that surely will ruffle feathers. Whether it was smart to do it to our BB program, if true, probably not the wisest area to save money.

I never noticed the Loose One Turn square, man that irritates me. Loose/Tight, Lose/Not ISU...
