Can't remember, but was Hines one of those media members that were misled by their well placed sources when Fred left?

There is obviously some truth to the story.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the podcast, but what did you expect Fred to say? I am glad that JP addressed it promptly. Doesn't change the fact that both Cael and Fred are gone, and it is believed that he is part of the reason for both.

If the agenda being pushed by Hines and the sources is to get Leath involved in the football coaching situation, why not simply pressure Leath directly on that instead of ruining the image of our basketball program with recruits?

If Fred really wanted to be the coach here, he would have agreed during one of his 3 negotiations in 4 years for a larger NBA buyout.

One could write a thesis about the danger of group think in this thread.
No this isn't group think. Hoiberg, JP and Hines likely all are telling the truth. Just different perspectives and agendas.

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

I don't think Travis would print something irresponsibly, but I also don't think that Fred would have stayed. There may be some enmity between the Coaches and how the Athletic Department is handling expenses and some other small issues.

If it is just some disgruntled people then totally understandable. I am only disappointed in the Athletic Department being cheap. It's not like Pollard makes every small decision.

As far as Pollard being jealous of Fred, who isn't? Seriously though that is pretty wild speculation on the sources part.

Once again for the millionth time, if Hoiberg wanted to stay, he wouldn't have a very low NBA clause in his contract. Pollard cannot necessarily be blamed for losing Hoiberg to the NBA to a team he wanted to go to.

According to some on here, Hines knew Hoiberg was headed to the Bulls nearly a month ahead of time but didn't want to break the biggest story of his career, one that could get his name out nationally, so he could keep his sources and keep getting scoops like who the next assistant football coach or track coach will be, scoops that literally tens of people care about.

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

If Fred didn't feel strongly that this is inaccurate then he WOULDN'T have taken time from his current job to comment.
Of course he would. He isn't burning a bridge with ISU nor does he want to hurt ISU which he knows this would. He could have been annoyed and not want this written. **** isn't black and white. This isn't the first time we have heard Fred was often irritated with things Pollard did. But really what employee hasn't had those times. The problem was the inferences made about it.

Out of all of this, I hope that whatever this is gets our basketball team and staff the same things that every other big 12 school is getting. That's all I care about.

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

I'm not ready to pull that trigger just yet but JP is certainly off the pedestal I have had him on. If Prohm gets all sanctimonious and Bibley with his comments after games etc then I will be ****** enough for that.

But since he hasn't yet you're holding out hope he does?

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

Already happened. So thanks for screwing over Iowa State former Iowa State coaches (and I include everyone on this.)

I am sure there is some truth to some of this. And it probably should come out. But maybe it should come out when Prohm fails. We've got one shot to do some damage and Prohm is starting from a bad position.

I can't see where this would have one iota of impact. Maybe the coaches can discuss it with recruits in their very own state of the art practice facility with all the bells and whistles. But JP probably makes them bring their own towels.

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

Um, it's not really hidden, it's out there. Other coaches will use this against us for years to come.

Which is what pisses me off about the hotel thing and whatever else we were "nickeling and diming" on. I don't disagree the hotel thing wasn't a big deal but you know what else isn't a big deal? A couple grand for the ISU AD. That's not worth it. That's what I hate about accountants, they only see the numbers that are in front of them.
