And tells us what kind of person Jamie is. Jamie admits that he was contacted about the story 2 days ago. Jamie knew hat the story was about. He knew about the individual claims made by Hines. Each claim could have been individually refuted with evidence in a simple email. Instead, Jamie chose to take down Hines by not responding then, but responding after the story was published, and Iowa State had been made to look bad. Jamie made this about his ego.

I believe fred wanted to go to the NBA, but we didn't have to make it easy for him. why would Fred confirm anything in the article at this point? What point would there be for him to do that? Fred just left a place he's loved and signed a $25,000,000 deal with the Bulls and is now in the NBA. Why the hell would he suddenly come back and say "yeah I hated our AD, he treated us like crap and was super cheap". Nobody would ever do that.

Fred got raises after year 2, year 3, and year 4, I think. Jamie was probably being honest when he said that giving raises every year wasn't going to work very well. Especially when said coach seemed to spend big chunks of each off-season looking for his next job.
Fred wanted to get paid but he didn't want anyone to know he wanted to get paid. That's just ******* stupid.

If that's what you got from that interview, there's really nothing I can do for you. Travis Hines lied. Hoiberg told him to put it in the story that he disputed all these claims. Instead Hines decided to lie to the public and claim Hoiberg and not responded to him.

I do believe there is a chance JP's ego may have been involved in his decision to not comment until after but it could have been calculated as well. Hines was most likely going the run the article anyway. Is it going to be more effective to let Hines choose what JP says in the article and then have to clean up after, or would it be more effective to suddenly have this wave of crushing debunks after the article?

In an effort to save thousands of dollars, they asked the players to hang out in a ballroom until their flight departed...hours, OMG, hours...how many? 2? 14? That kinda matters here. That's the sort of thing...hell, I would do if I didn't want to drop the cash for players to...well sit around in their rooms waiting for hours. Maybe I should start writing stories about how much of my time the military wasted in my life making me just sit and wait for things to transpire.
And Pollard and Hoiberg didn't exactly see eye to eye on some things? No ****? That describes 99% of professional relationships that I can think of in my life. But you make do and move on. Hoiberg was NEVER going to stay, it was a constant worry that he was leaving. His dream was the NBA. It isn't like we sat around every damn off season confident he was back the following year. I'm sure every damn coach in the nation doesn't see eye to eye with the AD at times, and why would they? They worry about different aspects of the same machine, and therefore, have different priorities.
But now it's solely because Pollard is an evil manipulator, and that he wanted all this fame that Hoiberg was wrangling in...Are you f'n kidding me? Pollard was just as revered for that hire as Hoiberg. He was bashed by some at the time of hire, but then applauded for his willingness to take the risk once Fred had success. Pollard and Hoiberg were riding in the same damn bus.
Pollard knew/knows damn well that Hoiberg was his meal ticket. Hoiberg leaving can realistically cost a lot of people their jobs, because now if Prohm fails the dominoes will fall. Prohm, Pollard, Rhoads, on down the line. Hoiberg was job security because it would have taken a massive scandal to bring that house down.
I don't think Pollard is flawless. Something about his face makes me want to punch it. But the dude has been at the helm for some major progress in ISU athletics and the hire was HIS. He brought Fred in. That hire could have easily backfired and he would have been fired and ad'ing at Drake...but instead, we were able to enjoy some of the best years of Cyclone basketball in my lifetime, if not ever.

On KXNO, JP says they checked out of the hotel at 12 and their flight was at 6. Completely reasonable... I'm sure the boys could find something to do with free time in Hawaii

There are a lot of 'matter of fact' comments getting thrown out here by people who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about...just choosing a side and then passing off their opinion on the matter as fact.
I guess it shouldn't surprise me though after years on this message board.

Those are pretty bold, matter of fact, statements. Why the hell would Hines jeopardize his career just to bring an old story to light? That's idiotic. He may have gotten some poor info from people with an axe to grind, but he didn't lie. I think he showed poor judgement in not vetting the story more after Fred told him not to run it, but he must have been confident in his work.

JP and Fred vs. unnamed sources? Very simple fact checking never happened, no real attempt to contact JP until AFTER the story was written on the same day the article was to publish.
I'm sure there is more to the story - and I'm reasonably sure it's completely insignificant.

The OP needs to update his first post to reflect the happenings of the day so people don't just read the article then immediately hit 'reply to thread' and spout of some pitchfork mania that makes them look stupid. There's already been too much of that.
The worst part about all of this are the headlines floating around now putting ISU in a negative light. Look at the yard barker news stream on the right. Not good. Many of those articles won't get properly corrected.
