Exactly what I've been saying. He cares too much about the University to have some BS float around. If he was scared, he would have blown it off. He responded to Murph within 2 hours of the story coming out. Fred wasn't afraid and was prepared as he was ready to address this.
My sources say that as soon as Fred was done with the interview he got back to his research in curing Boneitis in orphans and rescued a boat load of puppies from drowning.

Not exactly sure.
The ticket increase was happening at the same time as the salary increases. It helped so that people wouldn't complain about increases because they wanted to keep Fred. It was worked to avoid the major complaints about rezoning Hilton, imo.

The only thing that makes me think some of this holds water is monte morri liking the article... why do that? honestly makes me think a little less of him.

Monte is a young guy. Maybe he is a source for the minor stuff about hotel rooms and family travel that made it into Hines' column that got blown completely out of proportion. Does it matter when the substance of the column has been categorically denied by both JP and CFH?

This thread is going to get to 1000 posts in less than 12 hours. I wonder how many times that's happened on this site.

I can see where a player may look around and what other benefits and luxuries players at a few other schools get and may feel like ISU doesn't spend as much as those schools.

I can't speak for Monte, but I personally use the Favorite option in Twitter for multiple reasons. Sometimes it's more of like a bookmark -- maybe I do agree with the tweet/link or maybe I don't & I just want to reference the stupidity later. Or maybe the tweet sounds interesting but I don't have time to read a news article at the moment. A 'favorite' doesn't necessarily mean condoning or agreeing with the tweet.

He probably needs to spend a little less time worrying about stuff like this or frosting his tips and a little more time working on his game. Otherwise he's going to end up declaring and not getting drafted.

If that's the case, he isn't going to help much with Norvelle and Long coming in this weekend.

After rereading the story yet again, there is so much speculation by the sources, so much saying what they thought JP and Fred were thinking. Even some the so called facts were not backed up by ISU documents. There was really very few real facts from the sources, just a lot of what sounds like workplace gossip.

Frak with the truth.

Most of the comments from sources sound like stupid CF posters making vague comments with no actual substance. That article is just dumb. Sounds like they had a pretty run of the mill business trip. And I could also find nearly double digit sources that will say that every "nickel and dime" expense the coaches and their families incurred, no matter how loosely related to basketball operations, were reimbursed.

Just me or did it seem as though Williams and Siepker keep pointing fingers toward Fred's comments when commentary about truthfulness comes up?

I hope Fred isn't the kind of guy to tell a reporter one thing and the boss another thing only to ultimately throw the reporter under the bus after providing background information at the heart of the reporter's story.

I am still having problems with the notion that Hines worked on the story for months and still couldn't get an accurate depiction of the hotel check out event/ticket tax rules into the lead of the story. It shows a deliberate effort to mislead, IMO.

This is one of the fastest growing threads I can remember. I was out all day and it was on page 51 already (I know, I know).

I remember the BDJ one last December blew up very quickly. I didn't get much done that day, but then again it was much more interesting than this story.

Just checked back in and see that people are still defending Hines? How can you? The article was a joke and crap from the beginning. Anyone with a brain (apparently that doesn't include many here or in the national sports media) could see this by the sensationalized hotel story that was the main example used by Hines. This piece is giving us terrible press and was written using bad sources, stretching he truth, and out-right lies/misinformation. Now the article is being circulated as truth and these media outlets will not follow up and say the story was a sham.

And people are still defending the guy who wrote it and are mad at our AD?

We meet again Jamie.

It sounds as if the offer WAS made behind the scenes. And if true, I'm not sure there was much to be gained by publicizing it and forcing Fred's hand. I want to think about the politics of that though because I'm not not sure what the right thing to do was...

I think Jamie will end up regretting not making Hoiberg say no to Iowa State. Hoiberg's friends (and I think we can safely think Hoiberg as well based on what CW did not do in his interview with Hines today) think that he was treated poorly money wise and completely screwed over Pollard and Iowa State basketball today.
