Ya that might be true but how do you know he doesn't have to submit a plan to the AD and get it approved? And if anything happens and something needs to get done on the fly then it has to go back to the AD because it wasn't in the original plan. Not saying it does but there's a million things that are at play here and a lot of people are pretending like they know exactly how things work and paint with a really nice "prove it" brush.

I'm just saying this because ESPN had a big hand in paying for this trip so I'm wondering if they were also in on the travel planning side?

It was 4 hours. Get the **** over it. There shouldn't have been anything done differently.

Don't give me that ****. Kansas has a frigging set of basketball luxury suites. We're competing against the big boys now, and we're going to continue losing recruiting battles. We've had it with this nickel and dime ****. How is Coach supposed to take care of his players with no hot water and no therapy? Hopefully he's going now to go get that ***** on the phone.

And we beat the **** out of Kansas' pampered players the last two years, what's your point?

Would be nice to see the national media who tweeted and reported Hines' article to now report or tweet this one. But of course, that won't happen.
I love the part where Hoiberg details exactly what his twins were doing at the time and then says he doesn't remember what happened: “My twins were going out and swimming in the pools with the players. It was a really fun thing to watch them interact with our players. It’s not a big deal. It was not a big deal to me, and I honestly don’t even remember that happening.â€￾ Too funny.

I'm saying we are picking through pepper to find some fly poop so we can throw it at Jamie Pollard.

No organization is perfect and no person does everything perfectly. Personally I am glad Jamie Pollard hired Fred Hoiberg and between the two of them, amazing things were accomplished in their five years together. Some disappointments, but also some incredible memories. Nothing JP could have done or done differently would have made Fred Hoiberg our coach for this upcoming season. From the sound of it, Fred believes they had everything they needed to win and had no issues with how the program was run from the AD side. Maybe he is being kind or maybe that is true, you can believe that or not.

What matters is that going forward, our AD is still hopefully run with the two revenue sports getting "all they need" to be successful. The story says they did not, but Fred says (in so many words) that they did. Your mileage may vary.

People have a choice, believe Hines and un-named sources or believe the coach and AD who are what the story is about. I believe FH & JP as they spoke to the issue on the radio shows talking about this. Those who dislike (I did not say hate) our AD will continue to blame him for everything. If you believe Hines then you have to believe FH & JP are not telling us the truth.

I listened to the whole thing. Fred said these two things: "I had zero issues with Jamie Pollard" and "I was 100% fine with how the basketball program was run."

You are trying too hard.

Not really, you said he said that item wasn't a big deal when in fact he said he wasn't familiar with the item cited and said his broader TP. So you were incorrect which was my only point, when people don't want to answer a specific question they go back to the talking points which Fred did.

I don't think the issue had anything to do with him leaving and agree the premise of the story and many components were false. But anyone would be erked by publically misrepresenting your salary and it has been reported by many in the know to be true. Plus JP basically lied about never doing it as has been demonstrated over and over. Hell we all talked about it when Jamie did it. But believe that there is zero truth to anything in that story if you want. It just isn't accurate or plausible.

What he actually said was that he didn't even remember it happening until he read the story and the account of it. Because the story held it up as a shiny example of a nickel and dime operation. However Fred didn't hold some grudge against the AD about it, but reading this anonymous account couldn't believe how stupid it was. Then said yeah, finding something to do in Hawaii for 5 hours. THAT sucked, right?

No, I just found it amusing to give specific details about exactly what was happening at the time, only to end with saying he didn't remember what happened. I just enjoy all the polished public statements people make; they entertain me.

He said he didn't remember it until it got brought up and then he remembered them swimming and it not being an issue. You're trying too hard

The one making the allegations did offer evidence. The corroborated testimony of unnamed sources. You're free to believe or disbelieve. If just two players were too tired to do anything but sleep, and had nowhere to sleep but on luggage on the floor of a ballroom, then the allegations were true. It's been proven that the players were told to checkout rather than stay in their rooms.
It doesn't seem to be a very high bar to jump. I choose to believe.

Nobody is saying it isn't true. In fact I think we can say with 100% confidence that the team did in fact check out of the hotel at noon and piled all their luggage into a ballroom in the hotel. We can also be extremely confident that some portion of the team was tired/hungover and just slept there rather than doing anything else. The reason it is getting dismissed isn't because it isn't true. It is getting dismissed because it wasn't a big deal, at all, and wasn't evidence of the team being "nickel and dimed". And most importantly it certainly wasn't worth leading the story with, sensationally acting like the team had to spend the night in the ballroom right after winning the tournament because the AD was to cheap to get rooms for them overnight.

Coaches paying for their family to fly to NCAAs is 100% true as well. Hines just left out all context to make the story seem bad when in fact they only had to pay because they chose to bring their family to Hawaii instead.

The Kansas AD budget is near $100 million.

Our budget is near $70 million, which about doubled from when JP was hired. Newer TV contract has helped big time.

We have one preseason top 10 team, that's great, but we are not Kansas. Spending money we don't have will not make us Kansas.

Here's an idea instead of pointing your outrage at the AD, point it at the coaching staff, mainly Micah Byers (the guy who ALL the players love) because he was Director of Basketball Operations and makes ALL travel arrangements for the basketball team.

Here's a little inisght too, we do not have Kansas' basketball budget and can not spend money like they do.

Does anyone remember when the football team was sleeping in the hallways of the airport on their way to a Bowl game because of weather? No one got them a hotel room and there was no big uproar about it.

Jesus, folks, that whole post of mine was basically an excuse to quote Major League, substituting penny-pinching Pollard for ex-showgirl Indians owner Rachel Phelps. It was a joke. Apparently a bad one. Oh well.

Well, the radio hosts on KXNO released the names of the sources that refuted the report. Their names were Jamie Pollard and Fred Hoiberg. Hard to argue with that.

I don't remember a lot of things that aren't a big deal until someone or something jogs my memory.

As if this whole thing wasn't bad enough, Tuco again. He's quoted more in here than Deep Throat.

Wonder how many of Hines sources are posting in this thread?
