Uh.... not when the argument was Iowa had a worse SOS than tOSU, Baylor, UNC, or FSU.Uhhh....Iowa has an even worse strength of schedule on that one. You're assisting the wrong argument here.....

Ok then why the hell does that matter? Is it no longer a cupcake schedule since other teams had cupcake schedules too?
Uh.... not when the argument was Iowa had a worse SOS than tOSU, Baylor, UNC, or FSU.
Like I've already said, I think the listed teams along with Iowa have had weak schedules. I would call a schedule like Temple's or Houston's a cupcake, but to each their own.
I give respect that they had a great season going 12-1 which no one including even the biggest homer Hawk fans out there saw coming this season. However, I really have a hard time being happy for some Hawk fans because I just know too many that are complete douches and hate on the Cyclones. I hate the line "you should cheer/be happy for Iowa because they would do the same if it were the Cyclones in that situation" which I am sure there are some that might but I know a lot who wouldn't and would just have a field day of joy if the tables were turned and it was ISU who lost a game like that. I had one friend who pretty much chronicled his entire day in Indy on Facebook and while I am glad he got to expirience College Game day and his team playing in a big game I lost a lot of respect when he posted a video where he was already talking smack heading into the game telling fans that it was going to be a bloodbath and such. I might add that I know this guy would NEVER root for ISU in any circumstance because he's constantly trolling any ISU related posts on Facebook and just happens to be the guy that sent the message to Niang a couple years ago about how he had bigger breasts than his girlfriend. I do take a little joy in razzing him about that after Niang lost weight though.
What I really hate though are the Hawk fans that not only troll here but like pages on Facebook such as Iowa State Athletics, CF, WRNL, etc. and find the need to make stupid comments on every post by those pages. I don't like a single Hawkeye site on FB and I don't even visit Hawkeye message boards, I don't root for Iowa so I could care less what those places posts but apparently there is a good chunk of Hawk fans out there that feel the need to be obsessed with a team they say they dislike/hate/don't feel threatened by and they wonder why so many Cyclone fans can't be happy for Iowa fans because we've endured years of crap from trolls like them. The one comment I saw this weekend that I just laughed at was a Hawk fan saying "Cyclone fans should be rooting for Iowa right now, Iowa fans will be doing the same for ISU when they make a run in March." I call BS on that one, pretty sure we saw what a lot Hawk fans thought when they took pleasure in our 1st round upset and already saw a "have fun losing in the round of 32 again" comment somewhere yesterday too. This is why for most Hawk fans I can't root for your team and be happy for you regardless. I am happy for the friends I have who are the good kind of Hawk fans who don't act like idiots and can be respectful and for those friends I can actually hold a civil and intelligent conversation with them without them somehow bringing up something to knock ISU every time like some of my other friends do.
taking shots at Iowa's schedule throughout the entire year in an attempt to diminish what they've been able to accomplish.
Every fan base has obnoxious fans. I get that it's annoying when you have to deal with them, but it's the truth. If his posts bother you that much then unfollow him. It's not that difficult, but please don't confuse yourself into thinking every Iowa fan is as brash as he is. I know Cyclone fans who are exactly the same way... taking shots at Iowa's schedule throughout the entire year in an attempt to diminish what they've been able to accomplish. I have several of them on my facebook page as well. Now that the Hawks have finally played well against a team that was deemed "good enough" it's silence. I just do my best not to let it get to me and if it becomes too bad I won't hesitate to unfollow.
In reality, it's been pretty obvious all along that Iowa was a damn good team. No one nationally wanted to give them credit because "well they are just Iowa". Few Cyclone fans wanted to give them credit for obvious reasons. The Hawks should have a damn good team next year as well. That's reality. At least the results from this season will have earned them some respect heading into next year so they probably won't have to deal with the same level of idiocy from national talking heads.
Everyone was taking shots at Iowa's schedule, not just ISU fans and it was deserved. When Iowa's most impressive game all season was arguably their only loss I think that speaks volumes to how pathetic their schedule actually was.
Jambalaya;4968964..... Iowa beat 8 teams w/out winning records. astounding they're #5. ..... No Penn St said:I see the ESPN ex-coaches are taking Stanford over Iowa.
This of course followed continued discussion of Iowa deserving to be in the Rose. No other team is ever mentioned as deserving to be in the bowl they are going to.
Sounds like there is need to still convince people that Iowa's 8 wins over 8 sub .500 teams is top 5.
So I finally swung my one of employee's cube to see how the weekend went. (He was in Indy and to his credit, has a Master's from UI)
Seriously butt hurt; no appreciation for their accomplishments; complained about the lack of depth and conditioning of Iowa's D line at the end.
I'm glad it was a ****** trip for him.

He generally hates life so I suppose it was to be expected.I was in Indy and it was an outstanding experience regardless of the loss. Two very similar teams that gave everything they had and left it all on the field. It's unfortunate your coworker is too upset about the loss to appreciate what was on display. The Hawks have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Sure, some things could have gone differently and there are always coaching moments to be found, but you can't ask for more than what they gave on Saturday night. I think it's a travesty when fans are too blinded by a loss to see things clearly. The young men who played in that game on both teams should be damn proud of what it took for them to get there and how they performed once they arrived.
This post and the fact that there's so many Iowa fans on this site is Exhibit A to why Iowa is referred to as little brother. There is so much animosity and discontent towards Iowa State it is a little sickening. Not to mention there is a real segment of the Iowa State fan base that actually thinks there is a conspiracy in place by officials and the powers that be to screw Iowa State at every turn. Iowa's entire fan base is guilty of the things you attribute to them (in reality, most State fans know one or two hundred Iowa fans who fit the "Tavern Hok" stereotype), but Iowa State's fan base has its share of flaws, too (for instance, I have never seen a fan base that whines as much as Iowa's).
~ with reason.

..... No Penn St, Mich., Mich St., Ohio St. That is lunacy
Stanford in comparison has 8 wins against Bowl teams
ISU should be allowed to skip OU, TCU, Baylor on the schedule and play Kansas three additional times. We'd be bowling every year
