Sideline Rules (in KU/OU game)

Glad to hear from the Blum himself. So, what are your thoughts on the "rule" that a defender must stay 3 feet inside the boundary line? Is it a rule? A carry-over from high school? Common sense?

Have you seen a ref enforce this rule in an Iowa State game? I seem to recall at least one instance, namely, when Hogue batted a last second shot away in the Okie State game last year, and they made a big deal about McKay having to back away from the line for the final in-bounds play.

I have reffed since mid 80's. I think the 3 ft in bound portion of this talk comes from old time gyms where there was only 18 inches or so out of bounds. Those courts were marked with a dashed line 3 ft in from the out of bounds. This dashed line was the out of bounds during the throw in and no players (offense or defense) could cross it. In theory, this dashed line only exists during the throw in. Once the throw in is complete, the dashed line becomes irrelevant and is ignored for all rule interpretations.

Contact is inconclusive in this screen shot. It looks to me like he's doing the limbo.

In your effort to make YOUR point, you've lost track of THE point.

No, you are missing THE point. You heap the technical free throws on a bad call. The technical was the right call. Bill could have chosen to express himself appropriately. He instead chose to draw a technical. As much as you want to spin it that way the technical was not the result of a bad call. The technical was the result of a coach either losing his cool or deciding he need to draw a technical. Either way it is on Self, not because of a bad call.

Come on, we all know you really aren't that dense.

Sounds like AFH.
And Gallagher-Iba. And Cameron Indoor. And Hinkle Fieldhouse. And the Palestra. And lots of the older gyms retrofitted with today's additional needs of courtside media seating. It's not like this was the first game these players have played there or the first game these refs have called a game there.

It is inconclusive. I don't see his hand or arm on the ball. I think this is from the rebound after the shot.
Except Frank Mason was laying in a pile on the floor after the shot and Lucas was the one going after the rebound. Nice try, though.

Didnt realize you had the hots for holly rowe. I like how you got the players in your avatar to make a little heart shape around her. I prefer several other sidelines, but to each their own.

Freudian slip, much? I didn't even notice that Rowe was IN the photo until you mentioned it.

No,no,no. I can tell you like holly and are just embarrassed now. There is now way to not see here. A lady in a red dress pictured framed by two basketball players. One slick dude, tuco.

waaaaayyy. You'd think that if the set up of the court in Allen Fieldhouse was against the ncaa rules that it wouldn't take nearly 900 games for someone to notice.

Tuco, do you think the court at AFH is setup against NCAA rules?

You give my eyesight and attention to detail far too much credit.

Didnt freud always think everything came back to your mother, is that the root of your anger about Kansas losing tuco, your mother. You placed holly there to subconsciously remind you of your love of your mom?

Deep thoughts tuco, very deep.
