I can tell you that i have heard rumblings from within the program that there's some barriers that could be creating these issues. I believe that McKay may be getting the brunt of his attitude issue based on factors within the team. Such as a certain couple players not playing within the team concept and more importantly playing for themselves and the accolades that come with success.

If i had to guess McKay is dissatisfied with our offense and the only time McKay ever gets the ball fed to him is on lobs. Today we saw Niang consistanly posting up and getting excellent entry passes from Monte. So, whens the last time you saw a post up and entry pass to McKay. Instead its his job to go out and set picks for everyone else. Part of the team concept is keeping everyone happy.

Sorry but could not disagree more strongly. The team concept is for everyone to contribute to what is best for the team, irrespective of what is best for the individual. It is up to the player to be happy with his role within the team, whatever that role may be, not expect the team to make changes so each player gets what he thinks he needs to be happy.

I have a real hard time thinking of more than maybe two players playing for individual accolades. The two guys on lists are morris (whose accolades are literally for putting the team first) and niang (who is the best cyclone player in a generation). Thomas bought in, nader has his moments, and enough plays don't run through Burton for him to play for acccolades. I'm trying to figure out who you are talking about.

It's not hard to figure out. You just have to read what he wrote. He says that he thinks that Monte gives the ball Georges more in the post than he gives it to McKay. Which is stupid because McKay gets the ball in the post plenty and misses plenty of shots.

Do you watch the games? They've tried this numerous times before. I'm assuming he would agree that that is not his strongest area.

WRONG! The team concept it to accept your role. McKay is not option 1,2,3,or 4. And short of a dunk he should not be. Just rebound and play defense that would help this team immensely.

I agree with Cycsk - if anyone thinks this team will succeed long term without McKay your greatly under estimating his impact and how his absence will impact this team long term. With that said, i think he needs to get some bench during the game as he's banging with these guys for 40 mins a game and has to work his rear off to get a rebound to have any chances at scoring. IMO - this is an ego thing. He's not getting the opportunity to shine with Monte and George.

I'm a McKay fan and an ISU fan. I hope he gets his head on straight and settle whatever issue is ailing him because we need him for a run in the Big 12 and NCAA.

Does McKay have the ability to use either hand, or use the glass on shots the way Niang can?

Not sure if he does, maybe. But the one thing the guy needs to do is gather himself like Niang

I also saw Niang post a lot of high ball screens today
That open 3 from Thomas in the 2nd half was because of a great screen by Niang
Also some nice rolls to the basket.

The 1 time I recently saw McKay do a nice roll from the high ball screen was at the end of the first have against WV. Other than that he does not look that comfortable doing it.

Re: Not traveling to OSU??

In all honesty, I would take Woodbury's hustle, work ethic and "team first" attitude over ANY player we have. You wonder why a team with average talent like Iowa is a top 5 team? Guys like Woodbury.

I just threw up in my mouth a little...

I expect him to work his rear off.

After the UAB debacle where we kept trying to pass the ball into McKay and he couldn't catch it, I thought someone should get a ball machine and shoot basketballs at Jameel all summer to improve his hands. His hands have not improved. He can't get the ball more if he can't catch it.

And he should give Niang the ball more than he gives it to McKay. That's part of what makes Morris so damn good. And it's why the plays that he runs and the choices that he makes, a lot of times lead to points. Niang is our best player. Mckay....isn't.

Who

You
Crappin?

He's received far too many feeds this season; feeds he has done absolutely nothing with, time and time again. Far too often, after he bricks his bunny, he throws his arms in the air and glares at the ref while the opponent runs up the floor with the rebound and scores.

It not so much his hands, its more about his entire process of receiving the ball, he is like a wide receiver who tries to run before he catches the ball. Needs to slow down, not every play has to be treated like fast break

Probably the worst thing I have read on CF, and the list of "bad" is pretty tremendous. Congratulations...

You know what seems like a fraud to me? You.

Nobody knows what's going on in McKay's head. It's not nearly as simple as "McKay's just not bringing it". While that's a problem for the team, that's not the problem with McKay - it's the result of whatever the real problem is.

Whatever McKay's personal problem is, it's affecting his play, which is affecting his team. When whatever your personal problem is prevents you from catching a pass or hitting a 2-foot layup, that problem makes you a liability to the team. While this team has a serious shortage in big bodies, until he gets his **** together, he's a detriment. We need last year's McKay to return as a result of this suspension, or this team will just have to survive without him.

McKay has gotten way too many isolation opportunities.

You girls still at it? McKay is a great player and huge part of the team. No one player is bigger than the team tho.

McKay screwed up. Now he needs to make up for it - with his team. Owes the fans nothing but a great effort when he's back on the floor.

The rest you girls are blathering about is nonsense.

Literally LOLed at this. If anything, Monte and Georges try to feed the ball to McKay TOO much. McKay was at his absolute best in the B12 tourney last year when he was just running the court, crashing the offensive glass, and providing excellent help defense. He excels in that role and that's what got him all the accolades he very much deserved last year.

Fran said, “If I were head coach, I would suspend McKay for a second game.â€￾ That was in response to Jameel’s comment contradicting the indefinite suspension statement issued by the university. Seems as if Jameel’s mouth continues to write checks his play can’t cash. When a player’s antics and actions are egregious enough to be are called out multiple times by national media, you can bet their stock value is taking a tumble!
