Naz being injured this year so he can play next year is almost a blessing for next years team. They were going to need him more than this years team did

Malou is about the biggest X-factor we've ever had. If everybody comes back and Malou is a stud right away there's no telling what the team could do. If Malou is a project we could be a bubble type team even with a good (no Monte) or elite (w/ Monte) backcourt.

I can't think of a player we've brought in that has as wide of a range from floor to ceiling in terms of what they could produce. Royce had a higher floor because he was so strong. Brackins didn't have as high a ceiling in year one because he was a younger true freshman, but he was probably the most comparable talent. Even there though, I don't think Brackins had some of the potential skills Malou has.

I also think Solomon Young is a big potential piece. We need some muscle inside. Even if he can play the same role Ahmad Wagner played for Iowa this year it would help a lot and I think he can at least do that.

The new guards are exciting but unless we really catch lightning in a bottle and/or Monte leaves they'll all mostly be role players.

I dunno, depends on what we gave up this year, you only get those kind of runs how often?

Malou is the big ? mark. He'll be rusty at first but if he's the real deal ISU will get back into the tourney
Why is Malou automatically going to be rusty? I think Malou will be an absolute stud. It's going to be impossible to replace a guy like Niang (I want to cry now thinking he's gone), but Malou can light it up from both outside and inside and his athleticism will help us a ton on defense. I also think you're crazy thinking 3sus doesn't start. I think our lineup will be Morris, Thomas, Long, Bowie, Malou but would not be surprised to see Burton start over Bowie. Bowie gives us a little more size but Burton has shown us that because of his strength he can guard guys that are a bit taller than him.

We won't have to worry about our bench next year since we have at least 3-4 guys capable of producing good minutes off the bench. I'm optimistic we will have a top 25 team.

Someone said we'll be Villanova lite, and I think they're right. The teams Prohm coached at Murray state were like that and the players next year at isu fit his style much better.

I hate this time of the year because it reminds that soon, all basketball will be over and I'll have to drudge through baseball season until basketball starts back up in October.

I think we'll be more balanced as Prohm puts in his system. Fred built a team as talented offensively as I have ever seen, but we gave up some things to do it.

Assuming Monte returns..this team will be a ton better than a lot outside of Isu think...Prohm has been raving about Babb on scout team..I think Ernst will be a big surprise. Kid is huge. This team will not be a worse rebounding team..by a long shot. We will play 8-9 guys a lot. We will also sign another big either a grad transfer or Dembele..bank it. This team will compete next year.

These two have it right.

Defense and rebounding will be tough to improve with the frontcourt we will have. Should be a pretty solid 3 point shooting team.

On the other hand after what I just watched, it would be hard to get worse in those two aspects.

Be better than this year's. I think you can make a really strong argument for that IF Malou is as good as advertised and IF Morris comes back. MUCH deeper, better outside shooting, better defensively, and no McKay drama that dragged this team down more than we can ever imagine for most of this season. Plus, as good as he was, I think we sometimes we relied on Georges too much. Combo of McKay/Niang/Nader were three of the worst defensive players imaginable. I'm really excited to see what next year's team can do. How can you go wrong with a backcourt of Morris/Thomas/Naz/Jackson/J. Long/Babb/Cooke?

goodman is an idiot. If monte comes back we will have one of the best guard courts in the country. With burton and Malou we will be pretty damn good. How many times do we hear guards win college basketball games. Dude needs to get off Twitter and start watching basketball.

Nader was pretty good last night against Brogden. I don't think he was the best defender we had but he certainly wasn't the worst of all time status.

Hard to gauge where next years team will be without knowing what Morris is doing NBA wise.

Will definitely feel empty with know Georges, Abdul, or Jameel. Having Naz Long, Matt Thomas, Deonte Burton, and Monte Morris come back will be big.

Definitely intersted to see who steps up next season to lead this team other than these seniors. Who will be that big player.

I think overall next years team will be good. With 20+ wins

Nader was good defending big guards or small forwards. He struggled against smaller quick players. Unfortunately, there aren't any true small forwards at the college level for him to guard.

If you mean as talented offfensively any ISU team, no argument there. If you mean as talented as any CBB team you've ever seen, you need to get cable.

With our guards being elite status overall and a very questionable post game, might've beneficial for a year to run heavy full court pressure to take advantage of quickness. With Morris, Jackson, Thomas, Naz, Babb, Long, Cooke and Burton; we have at least two full squads at the 1-3 of dependable guys to rest. This would help our transition game and also help mask the obvious disadvantage at the post.
Probably won't do it but would be interesting.
