Baldwin does such a great Trump. I was catching the SNL clips throughout the night last night and cracking up.

I was watching Colbert last night and was looking forward to what he was gonna say tonight. Then I noticed that his show tonight is live on Showtime. WTF Colbert! Nobody watches Showtime!

Thought I read that CBS was airing the Showtime special.

It looks like I can sign up to Showtime for a free 30 day trial using my Roku. I may just do that. I'll dig into the fine print when I get more time to make sure I'm not doing something stupid.

people at paint place made up a new can on them. Agreed that the other looked quite green. Still not quite right though so I go back again tonight to see if we can get the sample matched. Makes me nervous cause we want this color in like, 5 rooms. So even if we get one gallon right......what about the other 3-4 we need? Sounds like they'll try doing a spect thing on the sample to make the formula. This is crazy. We found a sample we liked. Why is it so hard to make it in a big can?!

CG I know absolutely nothing about the process of building a house but why not get it painted how you wanted the first time?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

it would have been significantly more $$ to have them do anything other than a range of about 3 shades - white, builder's beige, and a cream color I think. We got to pick one trim color and one wall color. Anything beyond that cost more. So we did white so at least ceilings and closets were done.
The other big problem - we'd have also been on a tight deadline and had to have picked custom colors before drywall was even in - much less light fixtures, flooring, cabinets, furniture, etc. So picking a color that would have looked nice in a finished house based on studded walls? Bad, bad idea for us. We knew that until we lived in the house and saw what light was like in it and how paint samples looked that we'd never end up with something we liked and paying for a custom color would have been a waste of money. If either of us had had much experience with picking colors and painting, we would have liked to at least have paid to do the area we are now doing gray, but we didn't.
The frustration now is that you pick something you like and can't reliably get it replicated. We didn't have too much trouble with the green/blue for the bathroom so I'm hoping that after this yellow and gray, other colors will be easier. This gray color is also what we want for the entire living/dining/kitchen area, entryway, and hallways so I'd like to be absolutely sure we like it before it's in most of the house and we hate it! People keep telling me gray and yellow are hard. So blue will be easy, right?!

I haven't built, but I would say it's probably easier to get your stuff in place before deciding on a color anyway. I wish I could visualize a room beforehand, but that it not a strength of mine.

I assume you have a spreadsheet somewhere with all of the paint colors and brands listed for each room, correct? I won't make fun of you for doing that. It's completely worth the few minutes it takes to put that together in case you need to fix a wall and have to repaint due to a hole/water leak/kid damage/etc.

yeah I knew picking paint that far ahead and on a deadline would not go well for us.We figured it was something we could do ourselves over time. With stuff like tile and cabinets, we could take samples to the house and knew that that's exactly what it would look like. Wasn't going to get mixed wrong or whatever. I actually haven't made a spreadsheet yet but I probably will, especially as we start adding more colors.

I don't think there's anyone on CF in the Milwaukee news viewing area, but the Fox station has a poll of 3 games to cover on Friday. Ours is one of them. It's a tight race so far, we're in 2nd. First place game has 1,380 votes, we have 1,330.

If you get it right, you should buy all you need at once and mix all together. That way if you run out of a gallon in the middle of the room, the color will all be the same.

Along the lines of feeling short, I walked into the polling place behind a MBB player (walk-on Wes Greder, family lives in our neighborhood) and then walk into Target while 2 VB players are walking out (Capezio and Samara West). All three at least a foot taller than me.

well, this is part of my struggle. Even if we tinker with this gallon enough that it works......I need it to be replicated. But I'm not paying for 3 gallons to be done at once if I'm not darn sure that I like how the first is done. So I guess my plan will be to get the dining room figured out, and then get two gallons for the living room. So at least if there are slight differences, it's between rooms and not within a room. And obviously mix together the two for the living room so any difference there is hidden.

Or buy the one gallon and paint a test patch. If you like it when it dries go back and get your other two gallons. Then you can mix them confident that it is what you want.

I had to match the color on my shed trim. I had the color name and number and everything but it was so old they didn't even have it in the system for the same manufacturer. They did an awesome job matching a chip I brought in. It took them two tries but they had it done when I had my shopping done and made it back to the counter.

A lot of builders will really jack up the prices of painting in colors other than flat white. Flat white tends to hide flaws in the walls that the builder will come out and repair for about a year.
