traipsing thru the treetops
Papalew was playing a youtube channel of patriotic and war themes as background music, and this speech came on with a light theme playing in the background...a trumpet fanfare, four triplets fading in and out, changing keys on each rep...almost like an echo. I recognized it, and it was annoying the heck outta me trying to place it.

Short answer - we are now watching "Patton". :D

Not exactly sure.
In TCs and see a bunch of bikers, have to be Velo and boxster -- what's the odds it isn't. Yell and wave at them, bastards don't wave back. What a way to treat another RTT.

Wherever I go, there I am.
or: “Winning? Is that what you think it’s about? I’m not trying to win. I’m not doing this because I want to beat someone … or because I hate someone or because I want to blame someone. It’s not because it’s fun. God knows it’s not because it’s easy. It’s not even because it works because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it’s right! Because it’s decent. And above all, it’s kind. It’s just that. Just kind. If I run away today, good people will die. If I stand and fight, some of them might live … maybe not many, maybe not for long. Hey, maybe there’s no point in any of this at all, but it’s the best I can do, and I will stand here doing it until it kills me. You’re going to die, too, someday. When will that be? Have you thought about it? What would you die for? Who I am is where I stand. Where I stand is where I fall.”

solid weekend/days off. Prepped and painted bedroom, lawn mowed and fertilized, garage shelving bought, assembled, and loaded up. Cleaned and hosted friends yesterday - got out the grill and used the new patio furniture- sealed countertops, did some decluttering, and now just about decided on photos to get ordered.

And had plenty of American food :)

My inner fat gorgi is telling me to open a bottle of wine.

My inner fit basenji is saying don't do it and wash away the 75 miles you biked over the extended weekend.

Fat corgi just won.

Watched Full Metal Jacket for the first time today. I know the overall reviews for the movie were good, but I was disappointed in the movie at the end. Seemed like 3 different movies where they spent all the time doing the intro, then just hurry the ending. What am I missing?

Email I just received from one of our clients in the UK:

"Team, to add to your celebrations for the day (though naturally as Brit I can’t openly approve ;-) )

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (edited body of the email)

Pats on the back all round, I know everyone continues to put tremendous hard work into this effort, and at the mid year point I want to voice our full appreciation of that.

Thanks to everyone involved, and (grudging) Happy Independence Day!

Best,

Stewart"

@BoxsterCy i saw a ton of people (around 100?) in their underwear riding their bikes down Hennepin. If you were going to be that close, you should have let me know, I'd have bought you a beer.

The Brits in London do it better with their World Naked Bike Ride.

Lake ride today was not boring, just kinda humid.

Braked for a dwarf couple that stepped out into the bike path at Lake Calhoun. That was a first.

Saw an older gal (older than me even!) riding a nice bike all decked out in nice bike clothes but wearing roller blade elbow pads. Odd. Maybe she crashes alot.

Saw no corgi's.
