I'm not going to complain about natural curiosity, guessing, internet chat board conjecture and whatnot - that's the way things go when someone who is in a very public position changes their behavior or in this case - participation in their chosen public presence. It's not unusual, out of line, or rude (within reason).

But (and you knew there was a "but"), if the public person who we all wonder about has something happening that is of a highly personal matter, we must respect his/her space and decision not to make it public. With a young adult, we must also give a bit more leeway than normal than we would an established adult.

This is also conjecture just like a lot of other posts. This fact is not lost on me. This is just an "if" or a "might be" but my thoughts include this as a possibility and so I have to put my curiosity on a shelf and simply wish him well. I'm not even saying that is what others need to do - I'm just throwing out some food for thought.

I don't want to get into a pissing contest about smoking weed. But, the main problem that smoking weed tends to lead to more hard drugs. You can look at all hard drug users and they will almost be certain that they smoked weed. Yes, I'm older than most on here. But, I grew up in the hippy days. I saw all of that. I will say most heavy users back then haven't lead to a well functioning person in the work force. How many of the inter city people have all smoked weed and are on food stamps for generations. Hell, if you think it is okay then start giving it to your small kids and sit around and lead by example. There are reasons that weed is against the Federal Law. Yes, states are opting to allow weed, such as Colorado and the western states. But, these are the liberal states where the state wants to make money. Colorado has seen an increase in car accidents while being high. If you need to be high to function then we are indeed in a world of trouble. If you want to smoke weed take drugs then do it by yourself and not drive or be around others. If you hate the world or hate people like the Las Vegas shooter. Destroy our own life and not others...... We have seen how getting high affected one of own basketball players Bryce Dejean Jones. He had problems while he was here. Then having a family and being in the NBA. He threw it all away by being high and breaking into the wrong apartment.... I how the high was worth it.....

My wife has a chronic illness with many symptoms similar to fibromyalgia. Anyone here know of anyone who has experienced relief from thier symptoms with medical marijuana? She also has a sleep disorder to boot, and is generally miserable/tired most days. Id like her to take a trip to colorado for a week and use medicinally just to see what happens.
I would bet a large sum of money that it would work.

I agree with your premise, but why would you be happy for that? Doesn't it just set you up for disappointment?

Just tell the truth
Not every new coach is ready to take you to the next level. Not every new qb is going to be "elite".

Why would you want a media member to feed you these lies?

Simply because sports is a diversion. It's not NKorea, it's not tax policy or abortion, it's not flags and protests. I want my sports (especially for MY teams) to be positive and show the program, players and school in a positive light.

If JP failed 2nd test then he would be suspended for several games..hence he is not. They may have tested him or tried to again and he knew he would fail and therefore took leave from team to avoid failing and being 3-4games or whatever it is..

But that’s just a guess..

Wrong. It's roughly 10% of the season suspended, so 1 game would be standard for football. It'd be 3-4 games for basketball.

Marijuana is a Schedule 1 drug.
Schedule 2 drugs include opium, meth, and cocaine.

Tell me how the highest classification ("most dangerous") of narcotic in this country leads to use of "less dangerous" drugs. It's like saying taking shots of Wild Turkey might lead people to start drinking flavored Michelob Ultras.

Well as Chuck Rosenberg, the head of the DEA until about a week ago said, "This decision isn't based on danger. This decision is based on whether marijuana, as determined by the FDA, is a safe and effective medicine"

Weed should be removed from the criteria.

I understand where you are coming from, but if he wants to play in the NFL doesn't he have to pass drug tests there? Or do they just turn a blind eye toward the marijuana portion of the drug test?

I, as you can speak with the people at dispensaries and they are generally pretty knowledgeable about what helps with what types of aches, pains, and otherwise. .

These folks "prescribing" pot are NOT trained medical professionals. They aren't doctors, nurses, PAs, pharmacists, or anyone that has studied medicine.

I do smoke pot and have visited my fair share of dispensaries in WA in case you didn't know where I land on the topic.

No one is forcing Park to play college football. If he wants to go to college and doesn't have the money, he can take out loans. If he wants to get to the NFL, he can hire a personal trainer to give him the physical and skill developmental training that he is getting at ISU, and then he can apply for a waiver to get in the NFL draft once he has been out of high school long enough. And he can also hire a publicist to get him the exposure that he gets playing as a starting QB in the Big 12. How much do you think those latter two things would cost him for two or three years while he is waiting to become eligible for the draft?
This reply to a post is a great example of non-sequitur

So do we know anything more about Park or is this all just idle speculation and arguing about if the wacky weed is going to lead you into a life of crime and debauchery?

I have spent many hours studying this thread for relevant information that sheds light on the situation. Here's what I have so far:

--Jacob Park is a student athlete at Iowa State University.
--Marijuana is a substance that spurs opinionated conversation.

I hope this helps!
