Sizeable chunk? We're talking about walking in as the second half starts, not missing the entire third quarter.
I didn't necessarily mean "the entire third quarter," but sometimes, JTS still looks light on the attendance well into the third quarter. I don't see a need to leave at all, but that's just me.

The easiest cure for this is to sell beer in the stadium.

Edit/add: And take every bit of the added revenue and pay the coaches.

However, as was noted by OP, the Sukup was mostly empty and that is likely because they DO SELL BEER inside the clubhouse. Also it is nice to stay in and warm up in the clubhouse. So, the SEZ is almost always going to be empty to start the 2nd half, especially once the temperature drops. But selling beer won't guarantee people will go back to their seats right away, it sure doesn't work that way in the Sukup.

I left at halftime of TCU and I'm glad I did.

I didn't see TCU score a touchdown all game. I was back for ISU to receive the kick. Win for me!

It doesn't work that way because the Sukup is a club level. It's the same reason that the club level always looks empty at Arrowhead for sold out games. People are literally hanging out next the fireplace or at the dessert cart instead of sitting outside.

Was anyone else bothered by the different colors of cardinal and gold people had on during the game? I mean it looked really bad on TV. Some had the old red-yellow ISU gear, and others had the deep cardinal and gold ISU gear on and everything in between. We need people to wear the same style of ISU gear each game day otherwise we look bad on TV.

I really hope I don't need a sarcastic emoji.

Time to talk about clapping rhythm next.

This "problem" isn't unique to the US either. Watch a Premier League game on the weekend and you'll see LOTS of empty seats at the start of the second half there also.

With that said, I'm not a person who ever leaves the stadium for halftime so i'd be ok with JP eliminating that :) But I got a hunch he won't.

I dunno, I just like seeing a full stadium. Especially with a national tv audience. Especially from a fanbase who was so worked up when Iowa didn't sell out against Penn State. For so long, ISU fans have been used to losing, they were fine with leaving at half and not showing back up. The team has made a culture change, maybe it's time for the fans to follow suit.

Thank you Reverend for a great sermon and a great preaching. I kneel before thou greater fandom.

Then, pray tell, why is it disheartening to see a stadium only half full? I say fan attendance is important in several ways, you're arguing it makes no difference if only 30,000 showed up at Saturday's tCu game? Really?

Check out scenes from Saturday's oSu at wVu game. Pathetic attendance, sad. It was the first thing that drew my eye. But, maybe that's just me and others here wouldn't mind if we had crummy crowds like wVu had for the Cowboys.

So "Prey Tell" good sire how much do you donate beyond ticket purchases? I agree we want anyone we can in the stands, but to preach about "drew my eye" to many who are paying the donations and tickets comes across as very sanctimonious. If you are fully entrenched, please accept my apologies, if not, just saying...

Let's see, watch an exciting, potentially season changing play or wait 15 minutes for a carcinogen laced tube of mystery meat?
How does one decide.....?

The "drew my eye" was a reference to wVu's poor attendance Saturday.

I do give money beyond season ticket purchases, how much is none of your business.

You re correct and thank you for your support. How it is used or manifests in tickets or donations is neither my business nor yours on how it translates.
