relative newcomer...bandwagon jumper, really. Half a century qualify?
What in my post was disrespectful to the players? Perhaps you should read my other posts on this subject prior to casting aspersions.
I'm not going to call individual posters out but it's all over this and many threads. I think it's one of those things that if you can't spot it, it may be looking you in the mirror.POST#127:
I hope it's as good or better than last time, but agree that I think it won't be as good of a turnout. I wish I could go but doesn't fit in with my travel plans for NYE...
Hmmm. That’s all you’ve got? How about a real example?

Hopefully Campbell's staff will prepare better than Rhoads and Co. in that debacle 5 years ago.
I just finished watching the TCU game and am starting the Oklahoma game. While I’m disappointed we didn’t make the Florida bowl game and I hate playing an away game for our bowl, Memphis is not your typical G5 team. They’re ranked 20 and that’s nothing to scoff at. But this team is different, has a different, more confident attitude that says they belong on the field with anyone and they let everything hang out when they play. But dammit Campbell is just such an exciting coach who I wish I got the opportunity to play for, and while I am happy to at least have a few days off work to take a trip, I’m more excited to watch our team play because I think we will come out and impress against a for real Memphis team. So consider me pumped for the game.“I would say this, this fan base hasn’t disappointed,” Campbell said. “I certainly know Memphis thinks it’s going to be a home game and I’m sure it will be a great crowd from the Memphis side, but the one thing I know about Cyclone fans is they won’t disappoint. I guess I’m calling all Cyclones and right now. We need you there, ready to rock and roll, but I know they’ll be there ready to go. What a great atmosphere for college football and I couldn’t think of a greater way to go out.”
Lol perhaps you typed the wrong number, but in what world is this post below me playing the victim card?
Talking up a warm weather bowl vs. Memphis is putting the bowl down, like the team didn't make that happen. You know, the reason people would be going anywhere to see a bowl game.
My point was that not all bowls are the same. To say “a bowl is a bowl” is just ignorant. Ask any player and I’m pretty certain he’d choose a trip to Disney or the beach over Graceland. I preferred Camping World in Orlando as projected, and guessing I’m not alone.
Why would I rip on one of my favorite Cyclone teams ever? Excited about a bowl invite for a group that (hopefully) will have been responsible for ISU’s turn-around.
But you seem to know my intentions better than me, so there’s that.
We weren't good enough to go to Orlando. We were 7-5. I know it doesn't have to go in order, but it was pretty obvious we weren't going to Orlando.
B12? LOL.I'm a Memphis fan since 1965. I want to encourage all Iowa State fans to come on down and enjoy this game. There is a lot to do in Memphis, you will enjoy your stay, one thing is for sure, you will eat good while you are here.
Yes, we have a good team, yes we play an exiting brand of football. You guy have a good team too. It will be a great game. You will be entertained by the travel experience, the game, and all things connected.
You will find that all of you are welcome in my town. I look at this as our audition for addition to the Big 12. You will find that we are a worthy competitor. I am pumped.
COME ON DOWN!!!! You will be glad you made the trip, win or lose.
I'd give my left nut if the football team could play a game against the KSU refs.Think 1 of our OL was asked back in the day if they were upset at having to play a bowl in Boise & his response was he'd play an organized game in the parking lot to play just 1 more game.
Yes, I know what happened then, but the point is this is the last time this team will suit up as 1. Look at those playing their last collegiate game. Don't know if the stories this graduating class collectively would have a match anywhere.
Saw half-dozen or more defensive PI called this weekend that were one-tenth as egregious as the no-call on Lazard vs KSU (last time the team was on the field) & now we get a non-P5, rated team Vegas is favoring over us. You honestly think Campbell & Crew won't be motivated?
I'd like the can-of-whoop-ass opened & unleashed & as many fans possible there. Can't make it myself due to medical procedure scheduled late this year or otherwise I'd be there. Plenty of different BBQ to try.
Not ideal, but bring it on.
On the plus side, should be a really feasible trip for our fanbase. By playing the home team, you'd think hotels will stay reasonable as hell.
We've beaten (much) better teams on the road this year.

I think they called it the Rhoads virus. That was a rough game, but we had a fun time down there. If I recall right wasn't kind of the excuse that we played so bad there last time that a bunch of the players had the flu?
Imagine Memphis' players - they have a Top 25-ish season and their reward is to go nowhere. I'm sure they'd rather be in Hawaii or Florida or something.
