If Zeb was the starter against Iowa and (probably) Texas, we likely win those games. I don't care if Kempt doesn't fit the typical mold of a "successful" QB because like others have mentioned, the results speak for themselves.
QB play did not lose the Iowa game. There is absolutely no reason to think a different QB win that game. Our defense cost us the Iowa game.
Maybe win win the Texas game with Zeb, but really, it was the coaches forgetting that they had a running back on the team that cost us the game.
If Kempt comes back, they'll have a competition. I'd be crazy to just hand the job to Zeb because you are afraid he might transfer. If Zeb is the backup, thats not going to be the reason he would leave Iowa State. He would still have 2 years as the presumptive starter, just like he would if he transfers. If he transfers, its either because he just isn't happy at school or he hears footsteps from the younger QB and doesn't think he will ever start.
