I can't find anything about him getting kicked off of any team. Doing a search, there is a link to Reddit about recruiting. The summary mentions Leech and later in the summary it mentions "kicked off the team". However, the kicked off the team thing was about Austin Nichols at UVA. It may be true but I can't find anything about it.

I’ll stick with people I think we have a realistic shot with. Mario McKinney, Malik Wilson, Kira Lewis, KyKy Tandy, Tyrell Terry, Luke Anderson, Tyler Wahl are all guys we’ve been linked with that I’d rather have.

They likely have at least 4 scholarships to give. Even if they could somehow land 3 of those players are you telling me you wouldn't to take a chance with Leech who if healthy is a 5 star level recruit?

I don't mind bringing Leech in but there is a bit of a risk. With NWB, Shayok and LW likely gone, the most known commodity in the backcourt for 19/20 is Nixon. I like THT, Haliburton and Lewis but they are still unproven and would leave little depth behind them even if they do step up this season. That means its likely that one of the guards from this class is going to need to have an instant impact. If Leech isn't healthy, the 19/20 backcourt could suffer.
Bringing in Leech doesn't prevent them from adding a guard...

Yes I am. They won’t land 3. Probably not 2. Maybe 1. But there will be a lot of other targets who emerge. Other HS guys, Jucos, sit out transfers, grad transfers, etc. I’d probably rather us look different ways than a guy like Leech given what we know right now. But I do trust Prohm either way so if he wants Leech, so be it.

We are full for next year right now.

We lose (for sure) NWB, Shayok, and Talley.

= 10

We likely lose Wigginton.

= 9

I will give a 0.5 point for another transfer. I am not going to name names -- there is nobody obvious right now, like Long was at the end of last season.

That gives us 4.5 for the year after next.

If we get two of the guys on the various "wish lists" above and then Leech as a high-upside, high-downside play, then Prohm really has done it again.

Then use the last on a transfer. I like our hauls in the sit one, play one market.

Feels like the Wigginton, Lewis, and Lard (the risky upside play) class, along with some pretty solid SIT OUT transfers in Jacobson and Shayok with them.

Yeah hate to tell ya but Liddell, Weems, Tandy, Lewis, Mckinney, Williamson aren't all coming to Iowa State. We'd be pretty dang lucky to get one of them.

Even then. Say we have a massive shot at all those guys. I assume the bottom two guys on the bench would be encouraged to go somewhere else. That is the way the game works now. You don't produce and someone better can take your spot. You need to go play elsewhere.

Leech seems like more of a wing than a guard and they will absolutely keep prioritizing their lead guard targets (Tandy, McKinney, Terry, Lewis, Wilson, and the list will change/grow in the coming months).

Sure it doesn't but it puts more pressure on the staff to land an instant impact player in that class. I think the gamble is worth it but its still a gamble.

But I think there will still be pressure to land an instant impact guard if Wigginton leaves regardless if they do or do not get Leech. Leech is a wing player. So it really doesn't stop them from getting two guards in the class.

Way up there

Wing/SG are the same position, its realistic that they need a PG and a SG/SF who can come in and play in this class. If Leech is healthy, he'll play more like a SG than a traditional 3, he has the ball in his hands a lot and attacks off the dribble. When i think wing, I think of a guy like Lewis. Leech has much better ball skills, the video I've seen shows him attacking off the dribble and getting in to the paint. A bit Deandre Kane-ish. He has the potential to live at the FT line.

It seems like before the injury, he was on the way to being a 5 star. I imagine the coaches have done their due diligence on him. If they feel good about him, then it seems like a no-brainer to sign him.
