I assume they have to spend more time corroborating the information since McMurphy is an independent journalist.
ESPN's big on journalistic integrity. That's why they employed Emmitt Smith for multiple years.

Not exactly sure.
I agree with you, but, again, after Penn State, Baylor, and Michigan State, and with #MeToo a real thing now, I think the rules have changed. It is a new world now.

Universities cannot afford to be associated with this in 2018.

The politics of such hypocrisy and their liability are very different than even a few years ago.

Once again, I think this guy won't make any waves.

I'd like to believe this is true but this is Ohio State football we're talking about.

Assuming Urb did actually send Earl Bruce & a high-powered attorney/executive to pressure the wife into dismissing the charges, that's the nail in the coffin, in my opinion.

Agreed --

Big difference between...

(a.) Not even clear what he knew and when he knew it.

(b.) He more-or-less knew but was passive about it.

(c.) He actively worked to suppress the story and problem.

Meyer should be fired, but I doubt he will be. There’s very little honor or morality in big time college athletics.

The product of the B1G will also be factored in, I'd think. Sad but true.

Wow tressle was let go for way less than this. Urban should be gone. They won’t come after Campbell. They will go after a big name coach.
Kinda my thoughts. If this indeed is true it’s damning and if Meyer isn’t fired or resigns that’s a terrible look for Ohio State.

My thought is Campbell would be considered but they ultimately go with someone higher profile, maybe a Chris Petersen or someone of that ilk that is a proven commodity.

So finally last week, it got bad enough for Urban to fire him, as if the story would go away.

I've always said Ohio State is one of the schools that I think could get Matt at the right time...but as stated, maybe if they can Urban sooner we are in the clear because he still would be under the "rising star" category for most nationally not "proven" to the "elite" fans in Ohio

Horse ****. No one's heads are rolling at MSU because those guys bring in money. At PSU, Joe Pa was going to be out anyway and it was so egregious there was no other choice. Baylor as well. While I hate trying to "rank" these incidents, this is not on the level of any of them in terms of people affected and total harm done. Until fan bases start holding their own people accountable for this stuff, things won't change. They're the ones who write the checks and they're the ones who matter. So long as they defend their great coaches because they win, ADs will do everything they can to save them.

If it's true then I don't see how he stays on at OSU. But I guess if I learned one thing from the Sean Miller and Arizona basketball scandal that wasn't, it's that we should all take a step back and let a story like this breathe a little bit before we jump to conclusions.
Totally different scenarios. Sean Miller was a recruiting violation. This
You could also add Mack Brown and Pete Caroll who were both assistants at ISU early in their careers. I'm not sure how I feel about having 5 coaches who won National Championships in Ames and still sucking as bad as we have the last 20+ years.
With the Seahawks trending downward would Ohio State dare try Pete Carroll?

I feel like ISU fans have been a little nervous since Chizik got the auburn job after a bad record, but that was kind of a weird situation.

If Campbell had led us to a Big 12 championship or Cotton/Fiesta bowl, I’d be a little more nervous about a job like Ohio State. I’m not as worried at this moment in time.

And fwiw, I don’t expect us to be able to keep Campbell long term

What I love about Matt is he, I believe, isn't cut from the same cloth as many of the traditional coaches (meaning, he actually enjoys building a program, getting success, sustaining).....BUT, I also know that i've seen the top end schools (schools like Ohio State) putting money out there that is WAY more than we can offer....and most humans would leave a job for a salary that is double, etc.

Again, all I can hope is we have the success that wants folks wanting a coach AND we (ISU) have a chance to counter the offer in some way.

All good reasons why OSU wouldn’t go for Campbell posted previously but another one is the fan base/donor base would absolutely protest in the streets. These people are insane on a level that we can’t comprehend. Nebraska is only 1/4 of the insanity that is OSU football.

My text to a buddy (OSU alum): “urban out? what do you think about Matt Campbell?”

Buddy: “he will probably survive this. Who?”
