I find CMC's comments interesting about good he feels about the QB position depth with or without Zeb. I know he has to say that probably, but I sure don't feel very good about it without Zeb.

Add to that, CMC also has no problem with Purdy's aggressive play either.

So we have Purdy, who is taking a tremendous amount of big hits with how he plays, sitting at #1.

At #2 we have Kempt who didn't look good in his limited time against Iowa, coming off of injury and was in a boot 2 weeks ago in street clothes against WV, and hasn't played now for quite a while.

At #3 we probably have Mitchell who has never played a single down of college football. He's more of a runner than passer too.

At #4 is likely Devon Moore. Complete unknown.

I'm sorry coach, but without Zeb, we could be in trouble the remainder of this season with any injuries.

If this is true, would we now look to add another QB to next year's class? We have Easton Dean coming in next year, and Bouman the following year.

Ehhh....Campbell obviously likes Kyle a lot more than you do and has a lot more confidence in him. And I'll trust his opinion over yours.

Totally. These kids should just accept that they’ll spend the rest of their careers being the backup to a younger player instead of trying to find a fit where they can start and do what they love in the very limited amount of time they’re given to.

I don't think anyone thinks he shouldn't transfer if he wants to. I do think it is fair to wonder about the timing of it and have opinions base on that. Leaving the team in the middle of the season doesn't seem to help him at all.

Weak attempt. All I am saying is that I want kids who want to be Cyclones first. Insert Jerry MaGuire quotes.

That’s exactly what the post I quoted said.

And again, if he doesn’t want to be on the team anymore, then he doesn’t want to be on the team. Forcing or guilting someone to stay on the team when they don’t want to be because of this weird assumption that it hurts the team doesn’t help anyone.

I’ve always been mystified by this particular sentiment. There are tons of kids who have spent their lives wanting to be Cyclones, and just don’t have the talent to on scholarship.

I’m more than happy with guys who have never heard of ISU and/or look around, have a tough time picking, before deciding that ISU is the best place for the next stage of their lives. Then they’re “all in”.

Hakeem Butler and Jaquan Bailey are two good examples of that phenomenon. I can’t imagine that either one “wanted to be Cyclones first”—but they sure as heck are now!

Sorry but for this to happen in the middle of the season just isn't fair to the team. If this was Park 2.0, you guys would be pissed if this were happening. The only reason some of you that are ok with him leaving is because Purdy is doing well so u don't see it as being a problem.

I don't think Zeb is that good either

So what do we think will be the over/under for meaning snaps with Mitchell against Kansas?

Actually, the only thing that we know for sure has “happened” is that he’s taking a personal leave of absence. Some people are claiming that he’s transferring, and others are speculating, but nothing beyond “personal leave” is substantiated yet.

He's injury away from playing. Why not finish out the season and continue to stay engaged and then transfer? Trying to think of this being an advantage for him in October.

Could there be a behind the scenes grades issue he may be facing? Meaning he can withdraw now midterm and either save face or try to maintain eligibility?

I agree.....totally....but apparently Jacob Park really was never "all in".....he was here for Jacob Park, or whatever his name was. There isn't a reliable litmus test for that I guess in a guy's character....but what I love is guys who come here and want to be here for 4 years. This ABSOLUTELY goes for coaches too. Again, insert Jerry MaGuire quotes about our cynical world.
