I'm sorry, but I thought we won. Some of the whining on this board makes me think otherwise. Saturday's game was a great win!
Great points.
Game thread coach would blitz every down and throw deep on every play.
I'd like to see us get Montgomery the ball on the edge more. Seems like we love running him right at the other teams' nose guard.
We’re saving it for Herman.I don't think anyone was suggesting to let Purdy throw every first down, but when the defense knows what you are going to do, it is easy for them to defend and you put our freshman QB behind the chains consistently. That isn't good either.
I don't think the stat on undefeated/untied Octobers is getting enough hype - Prior to last year we hadn't had an October with no loses or ties since 1938. And we've done it two years in a row.
That's just crazy. And with 3 wins over top 10 teams, it's not like it was a scheduling quirk.
Play calling was boring and predictable. Monty up the middle twice, dropped pass, punt. Campbell needs to hire a OC because he sucks at play calling.

I agree that playing conservatively is completely fine with this team. What's frustrating to me is that from my (not that great of seat) it looked like we ran through the right side A gap on nearly every first down play. We have a fantastic running back and yes, we want to control the clock. Why didn't we see any of the zone block/cutback scheme we saw vs. WVU/OSU? Why didn't we run the counter to the weak side of the "heavy" set that they ran with such success the last few games?
I think running the ball on first down is fine. I think that the square peg-round hole that we insisted on doing was a little less efficient than what our offense has demonstrated it's capable of.
