Can you block grad transfers? I didn't think you could.
Original post on this said he might stay in school to get his degree, so maybe he's not a grad transfer. Guess NE would be a "no way" if that's the case.

P.S. As I thought about this, it seems highly unlikely that he'd transfer and then have to sit out a year. So, maybe he'd try to do the Talley thing and take a year's worth of credits over the summer...in which case he'd be a free agent, I believe.

Meaning he is staying in school this semester so he can graduate, then transfer. I might have phrased the wrong. A lot of kids declaring for the draft just quit going to school. Sorry for the confusion.

Wow. I live in the Twin Cities, and Gopher fans would be livid if this happened. It would really put a dent in the "he's starting to build with the great, local talent" thing that some are starting to hope with Pitino. I don't watch enough Gophers hoops to have a good sense of whether Pitino's any good, but he's at least not as annoying as Fleck and his schtick - ugh. Pitino has been plagued by not having good PGs. Coffey was even the main ball-handler late in the year, which probably doesn't make a lot of sense. Coffey is very mercurial - great one game, invisible the next,... though, he did have a good run to end the season. Agree that many would be after him, including NE.
I've felt that he's good pretty much every game but his 3 point shot is horribly inconsistent. He's either good at shooting from range or bad and nothing in between.

Yeah Coffey is a better player than THT and not even really close. Always wanted him out of HS until Hoiberg left and any chance with him was out the window. If he did decide to transfer I agree youd think hed have his pick of any school in the country.

A player of his caliber instantly turns our roster around though into an upper tier Big 12 team next year.

100% Coffey would have ended up at ISU if Fred was here. His dad LOVES Fred

So he can possibly not go to the tournament?

This is just my guess to be 100 percent truthful. The way his dad is and the way that he is. His goal is the NBA. Not the tourney. He has been in the tourney. However, if he can go to Arkansas (Just throwing that out there) he can play for Musselman who has a ton of NBA ties. he automatically becomes the best player, average 19-20 points a game on a bad team but still has NBA type numbers, NBA type body. That type of thing. All speculation but the tourney sometimes is more important to the fans than the players looking to go the the league.

Ahmed Ali
5-11 165 lb guard
originally from Toronto
7.3 ppg 1.8 rpg 2.9 apg in 21 mpg
sit 1 play 1

Isaiah Wade
6-7 220 lb forward
originally from Waterloo, IA
4.7 ppg 3.5 rpg 0.6 rpg in 14.5 mpg
sit 1 play 1

Ali is a little intriguing... would be more so if he was a grad. Wade is not someone ISU will recruit but the iowa connection makes me wonder if Drake or UNI will kick the tires.

Wade is from Waterloo - Iowa might kick the tires on this one. If Dale from Waterloo was a legend, can you imagine Wade from Waterloo? That has an even better ring! Go get 'em Fran!!

@GoodmanHoops Oakland guard Jaevin Cumberland will be a grad transfer, source told @Stadium. Averaged 17.2 points this past season.

@therealdcunna Yavuz Gultekin (@yavuzgultekin19), a 6’7”, 3⭐️PF #Hokies’ commit from Bel Air, Maryland, posted this on his Instagram a little over an hour ago, announcing he is going to explore other options. He’s the 2nd of Tech’s 4 commits to announce they are exploring other options.

Cumberland would be huge. Really weird career for him but he was big time this last year
