This happened to us against Baylor - They have to give us the opportunity to complete the catch, even if muffed. Our returner bobbled the catch, then was hit by a defender before he was given the opportunity to catch it. +15 yards.

It's difficult to make an accurate assessment of the field from a photo like that, especially since it is coming from the endzone perspective, and the ends of the field see less wear and tear. One can get a better idea watching the game highlights at Cyclones.com, as there are some closeups of the field. There are definitely a few rough areas between the 20's. There is a particular closeup at 2:42 which doesn't look good. Hopefully the field can recover a bit during the next couple of weeks. Does the grass actually grow/repair itself much at this time of the year?

i'd be mowing twice a week if the rain would allow it. it's growing better than it has all year

This is true. I was listening on the radio when it happened in the Baylor game. I was unaware of the rule when John described what was happening and said oh **** here we go. But then Ole Heft got triggered and explained in his classic stuttered fashion that it should be our ball plus 15 and that’s what happened. God bless the cyclone radio network.
The ref at Baylor did a really good job of explaining it. I have a feeling if he hadn't done that, the Baylor fans would have stormed the field. They were pretty incensed at the call...
I agree and thought the same thing. It was well done but almost comical how long he took to explain what happened. I would be lying if I said I didn’t smirk when I heard the ref say the word “muff”.
We had a number of TCU fans next to us. Most were a bit under the influence but not belligerent. I watched one of the guys fall down walking down the aisle taking out a couple of people. He sat the entire second half with his butt hanging out of his pants and was drinking whiskey out of a water bottle.
Then he also was asked by some people to take a picture which he agreed to. He held the phone up to take the picture and fell flat on his back. It was hilarious. Not sure how the guy even was able to walk out of the stadium.

Since this thread has partially devolved into a turf grass discussion... Will Friday night's freeze be enough to make the turf go dormant or will the tarp keep it warm enough? Ideally, they will be able to keep the turf warm while my yard gets frozen solid so can stop having to mow it.

Heard screams of terror when the TCU band got off the bus and were greeted by 3 of our meanest fans. They got back on the bus and left.
He may be the guy that was walking out in front of us. Couldn't stay upright on the slope heading down to Gate 1. Thankfully he ended up with his arms over the shoulders of two buddies. Otherwise, he probably would have ended up rolling down the hill, bowling down other people on his way...
