It's difficult to make an accurate assessment of the field from a photo like that, especially since it is coming from the endzone perspective, and the ends of the field see less wear and tear. One can get a better idea watching the game highlights at Cyclones.com, as there are some closeups of the field. There are definitely a few rough areas between the 20's. There is a particular closeup at 2:42 which doesn't look good. Hopefully the field can recover a bit during the next couple of weeks. Does the grass actually grow/repair itself much at this time of the year?
My yard grows several inches a week. Gotta mow again tonight. I would assume a field with talented maintenance workers would do much better than my patch of suburbia.

Since this thread has partially devolved into a turf grass discussion... Will Friday night's freeze be enough to make the turf go dormant or will the tarp keep it warm enough? Ideally, they will be able to keep the turf warm while my yard gets frozen solid so can stop having to mow it. :)

Ames forecast calls for a low of 30 degrees.

They slit seeded rye so I am sure they will be covering it doing their best to keep it warm. Not sure if they have gone to the extent of blowing warm air under it before but it probably wouldn't hurt.

Some annoying ISU fans were heckling towards my buddy (TCU fan) who was sitting in my group. They were yelling have a nice drive back to Texas. Thankfully my buddy is even keeled and just yelled back that he would and would have a nice drive over to Taylor's for a maid-rite before hand. The ISU fans didn't say anything after that.

There was a guy (Section 4) who keep yelling "GO FOR IT" on a couple of 4th downs. Then he started yelling it when TCU was on 4th down. And 3rd down. It was really funny, actually.

He may be the guy that was walking out in front of us. Couldn't stay upright on the slope heading down to Gate 1. Thankfully he ended up with his arms over the shoulders of two buddies. Otherwise, he probably would have ended up rolling down the hill, bowling down other people on his way...

Very well could be. We were on east side of stadium. He was an older guy. Fairly thin. Seemed like he had too good of a time tailgating....

Yup. Sounds about right. One of the guys supporting him was apparently his son, and the son looked to be in his forties at the least.

I can't think of any good ones I heard, so I'm starting to wonder if I was the annoying one

My section is pretty quiet this year. I admit after TCU scored their 3rd straight touchdown without much resistance, I went on a little rant. Yelling something about how we quit playing. The only thing that can tackle TCU now is the field. The game is far from over. Etc, etc.

I quickly noticed several people giving me weird looks and I realized I was that guy...

My brother and I like to be “that guy” sarcastically a lot. I think people understand we’re sarcastic most of the time. Personal favorite was after TCU got hands to the face early in the first quarter, I yelled out “he’s been doing it all game!” Got a few chuckles, nothing great. But that’s show biz baby

I try to be funny sometimes. After the fight I yelled out that he needs to be careful, because he should see what we did to the Iowa band. That got a few groans. Maybe it was too soon.

Some brilliant smart ass yelled "YOU LEFT YOUR BLINKER ON!" when the cart came out. Response was mild but good.

I knew about this rule but didn't know if the returner muffs the catch outside the endzone they can't have the fair catch. A guy a couple of rows in front of me let me know.

This happened to us against Baylor - They have to give us the opportunity to complete the catch, even if muffed. Our returner bobbled the catch, then was hit by a defender before he was given the opportunity to catch it. +15 yards.

Two different rules here.

On a kickoff, if the returner calls for a fair catch and muffs it, the team gets the ball at that spot -- not the 25. (K-State did this last year on the opening KO and started on their own 2.)

The other rule is about giving a returner the opportunity to complete the fair catch, which comes with the 15-yard penalty if violated. You normally only see it on punts, because there's almost never a chance to impede a fair catch on a kickoff.

Does this guy also yell jeeze lousie constantly? We have a guy that use to sit behind us that constantly would yell stupid stuff and not know anything about what he was saying. Then finish everything sentence with jeeze louise.

Jeeze lousie if a serial f-bombers Chantix.

Was delivered very bad news by a contracting officer first thing on a Monday morning a few years back. She (ex-Army) fully expected me to drop a bunch of f-bombs. I said "Well, poop." Her wide-eyed response was "Did you just say poop?" Had to explain I'd been around my little grand nephews all weekend and my language filter was still on.

Try one of the shots from less than 100 yards away lol

Unless you have a picture to show it then what you're espousing isn't true. At least one of us provided facts, and that wasn't you... lol
