FIFYSauls looks like a nice addition. Hopefully he is ready in 6 months.
Would he be the over 40 yard guy right away?Sauls looks like a nice addition. Hopefully he is ready in a year after Assalley graduates.
When there's a right footed kicker, the place holder uses his right hand to put the ball on the ground. So, a lefty kicker would have a place holder using their left hand to place the ball on the ground. The good thing for us is that two of our backup QB's are left handed so it should be natural for them if either of them becomes a holder. As a lefty, will there be different holders for the different kickers or is it an easy thing to practice for a 4th string QB?

I would hope that a senior like Assalley would be the starter.I wonder if Joe Rivera would be an option for holder, assuming he's also left-hand dominant.
Granted, that only matters if Sauls kicks next year.
He isn't kicking off a tee in this video that Stansbury posted in the commitment story.Would love to see him win the job this fall but normally it seems to take kickers awhile adjusting to not using the tee on FG's. I think it was mentioned that was Narveson's problem.

Oh I'd agree that if Assalley doesn't show improvement, Sauls will get a shot. If Sauls is better, it doesn't bother me at all. Would be cool to see Assalley figure it out though like Cole Netton did his senior year.He was the starter this year, too, but he still didn't take all the kicks.
Sounds like Sauls has a big leg. Not unreasonable to think he could get a chance or two from 40+, similar to Narveson.
