Gee, we've, more or less, locked up college aged kids with their parents since the middle of March. Curtailing their lives and stifling their social life to an extreme and we're surprised that they want to party and socialize when the apparent restraints are removed?

Who couldn't have seen that coming?

Disappointed: Yes/maybe
Surprised: Not at all.

Saturday’s cases and deaths the lowest in a long time.

Where are you seeing this? Numbers this week were very similar to recent weeks. Note that there is typically a two day drop around the weekend (reported on Sunday and Monday on most sites), then Tuesday always is a high day, this is all because of reporting.

Honestly...many scientists think we are not very far from Herd immunity right now.. Mainly because about 3% have it or had it...40-50% have zero symptoms if they get it...I’ve read some scientists think if we reach around 10-15% who test positive with symptoms that we will reach herd immunity bc the virus will die out if only infecting asymptomatic people.

I still have no idea how anyone who is completely asymptomatic can spread a virus...if you aren’t sneezing or coughing it would seem highly unlikely for you to spread it. I guess talking and close contact can spread but seems unlikely.

The talking without distancing would be a likely spread for asymp people. Also pay attention to how many people lick fingers/hands when eating and then just napkin them later. Many viruses spread a lot worse due to this issue. Very disgusting also to kick your fingers. Then later they shake hands with someone. I’ve never been a big handshaker due to not knowing where those hands have been.

You’re full of ****. And you have been since Day 1. There is no way in hell I believe a 9 year- old said anything close to that. And if they did, you should be ashamed.

I appreciate your concern for my son, but I assure you I couldn’t be more proud. We’ve raised him with the same principles that my parents raised me and my sister - be compassionate and understanding of everybody. He’s the most caring kid I’ve ever met.

With that said, he realizes he’s been stuck at home without seeing any friends for the past 5 months, we haven’t gone to restaurants or any other activities, and done everything we could to limit the spread. We’ve done that and he’s seen other countries do that and be successful.

When he was riding around with grandma and grandpa (they went through McDonalds drive thru for breakfast) and nana was talking about classes starting today (she’s a professor at Iowa State), he saw how many kids weren’t taking things seriously and putting his grandma at risk.

And here I'd been so worried that students wearing masks at the bars would lead to some extra-awkward walks of shame when they figure out the next morning what the person they hooked up with the night before looks like in the light of day. PROBLEM SOLVED.

From what I hear, beer goggles basically had that issue taken care of itself.

Haven't had a daily count of cases this low since late June.

Deaths on Sunday and Monday are always low on this site but they didn't go bonkers over the last month compared to the initial outbreak, which is positive.

For this virus, it's very likely compared to others. It's why it's such a problem.

I can't get behind the herd immunity thing...cases are seeing a slight uptick in places like Italy where it was theorized that it was basically done.

I DO think way more people have it or have had it than is confirmed.

Why are people surprised about this? They are kids 18-22 or so and some getting away from mom and dad for the first time. I’m not saying it’s right but we were all that age at one point.

Why do people always think being disappointed about something is actually people being “surprised” by something these days?
