just because people write dumb stuff doesn’t mean I think Steve Prohm should be the basketball coach at Iowa State any longer.

he will lose his job after the season, either by termination, or being allowed to resign with a negotiated buyout. His time here is done. Jamie has no choice at this point.

there never has been, nor will their ever be, reason to go after him on a personal level.
Buddy, nobody in here is going after him on a personal level. It's a business where you are paid a lot of money to win games, and if you don't win games you have to hit the road. I'm sorry if your feelings are hurt because you really like him while others would rather have a basketball program that had a pulse.

Yeah, i dont think anyone will argue that Prohm seems like a good guy.

He's just not doing good enough at the thing he's being paid millions of dollars to do, so its time for that to change.

Bullsh!t. There are abso-f*cking-lutely posters going after him on a personal level. Not many, thankfully, but there was one poster who just last night was openly wishing for him to have a stroke. Even if that was written in jest, and I hope to God it was, that's still pretty f*cked up.

Hey @WhoISthis, instead of dumbing every single post I've written today you actually use your keyboard and participate in one of these threads?

We're talking a 2 win season. I don't understand how anyone can be concerned about getting worse.

I know people always say it can get worse but I seriously don't know how.

Sigh...I wrote earlier in the thread that I was actually somewhat excited about being able to watch a game, since with my current work schedule I normally can't do that on Saturdays. And I did give it a try but I had to turn it off at the 8+ minute timeout in the first half when it was 28-13. I do feel bad for these kids and to a lesser extent the coaching staff, but this is just depressing and sad. Three years ago when the team only won 13 games I could accept that since that team was still competitive and actually beat the crap out of both Texas Tech and West Virginia in Hilton. Last season's struggles made me mad when we lost by 30 at Hilton to Texas Tech and FAMU. This season I'm just sad about it.

Correct. I'm not mad. I don't need to rip Prohm. It's literally just sad. I've lived through good times and bad for ISU basketball but this is something else. This is an absolute cratering that is hard to put in to words. I mean at the start of the season I was hoping we'd see enough this year to get excited about next year with Hunter. This is just so much worse than one player. I'm beyond caring if we lose Hunter, Foster, etc. I honestly won't care next year much. It's just sucked all of the fun out of it. I don't hate Prohm but what has happened to the program under his stewardship is borderline Denethor II as the steward of Gondor stuff.

If that happens, then Jamie Pollard is dumber than anyone thought (he’s not). If you bring back, Prohm next year RIP men’s basketball for the next several years.

Well you asked. And from what I've been told......the program is already dead for the next few years, so exactly what will one more hurt? Hunter, a healthy Foster and Hinson? What.....are people nervous they might win some? What is the difference between Steve winning say 15 games and T.J. winning 15 games? Or DeVries? Any other coach? The program is dead, right? And a win is a win, right? So what the h***? This year because of all the regulations, more than likely he will be back for one more shot. Is a win somehow less a win under Steve than another coach? If he comes back and they somehow turn it around isn't that a good thing?

How far down the family tree is Steve from you?

Why would you possibly believe the program is dead for the next few years? Do you even follow college basketball? A good coach can rebuild a program quickly. It just happened at ISU, only a decade ago.

Whoever the coach is next year, his top priority has to be holding into Hunter and Foster. That freshman PG and big man duo is a great foundation for the program to be rebuilt around.

You have faith in Prohm turning things around when he’s only shown the ability to take us from the top of the Big 12 to the basement?

Honest question: what has he done to show you he’s capable of that?
