Agreed. He was successful at SDSU and has a solid history of recruiting.TJ also went in to UNLV and cleaned house. Using two years (one being a friggin pandemic year) to determine if TJ can coach just seems really lazy.

I want you to know I googled that term. And I still don't understand what it means. In basketball coaching hire terms, I mean.Yeah that's the thing, with Gates you are going all in on the flop. Thinking the turn and river are going to be good to your hand.
And there is the crux. Buyouts paid in a pandemic budget shortfall year. Is the coach good enough to justify that move even with the built in advantages? One HUGE fish would want TJ.
Ya, we gotta move fast especially with Minnesota and Indiana firing their coaches. Why? New coach needs to recruit ASAP, especially transfers
What other AD's are looking to hire him? What does JP know that no other AD knows?
If you polled the world and one guy got 17.5% of the vote, that's a huge number. It can also be read as ANYBODY ELSE. What is the point here?
He did. And put it on Facebook. And it's about what you think it's about.Thought I saw somewhere that Pollard attended a couple of South Dakota BB games while TJ was coach. What was that about?
They remain great friends, which is why everyone is concerned about Jamie’s decision. Does he actually believe TJ is the guy to right the ship or is a friend trying to help out the other?Thought I saw somewhere that Pollard attended a couple of South Dakota BB games while TJ was coach. Wasn't familiar with Dennis Gates at Cleveland State so I took the time to do a little research on him. He appears to be a real big-time winner and he's just getting started. I would be happy with him. He seems to be a strong Matt Campbell type. As you mentioned, a culture builder, motivator and player oriented coach. Has it rolling at Cleveland State so he would probably be hard to get to ISU.Dennis Gates, is the man I want. Turned around the dumpster fire at Cleveland state in two seasons. Amazing recruiter and has a great personality like Matt Campbell.(culture builder, and motivational)
You need to hire him this year because I think he will be the top candidate in the nation by next year.
FFS JP isn’t going to hire him as our basketball coach as a favor. They remain great friends, which is why everyone is concerned about Jamie’s decision. Does he actually believe TJ is the guy to right the ship or is a friend trying to help out the other?
We don’t have to move fast. Minnesota and Indiana aren’t hiring TJ.
Maybe Craig Smith? Or don’t the Gophers want him now since Smith inherited his best player Queta from the previous Coaching Staff and therefore his Utah State record must be ignored.?
Tang. The Baylor assistant. That's the first phone call.
Boston College no longer has an opening.Wasn't familiar with Dennis Gates at Cleveland State so I took the time to do a little research on him. He appears to be a real big time winner and he's just getting started. I would be happy with him. He seems to be a strong Matt Campbell type. His name is mentioned by media as a possible candidate for the Boston College opening.
Yeah I’m actually in agreement with you. Just stating why a lot of people have concerns about the relationship between the two of them.FFS JP isn’t going to hire him as our basketball coach as a favor.
We are hiring TJ.
The very least Jamie can do is pretend he looked at other options. I just want to believe that it wasn’t a foregone conclusion 6 years ago.
