Lol, based on what? Just because we have Matt Cambpell now doesn't mean in the grand scheme of things we are a better option than some other Big 12 schools. They will take everything about the school and athletic department into account, not who has the best football coach the last 5 years.

I guess if they are looking for academics then Iowa St will get the nod, but if you compare the recent history of the 2 schools I don't see how Iowa St is a more attractive option.

They have a bigger stadium, facilities are probably the same, towns and schools are about the same size, fan bases are similar.

And like I said before, they make much more geographic sense. Central Kansas pretty much looks like the rest of the western part of the U.S.
Ames looks nothing like that geographically. The Big 10 makes much more sense on every level.

My honest opinion is the Big 12 survives in a different. Might not look quite the same but it's not a doomsday scenario either like 90% of people on here are predicting.
Um what?

The Big 12 surviving with no OU or TX is like being completely paralyzed after a car accident but I mean.... at least you're alive.

Joining the BIG is a pipe dream. Will never ever happen. BIG gains nothing from adding us besides another mouth to feed at the table. One person mentions it, and they’re getting a bat to the knee cap.

yes, thank you

It may be the only option for most of the schools. Sucks but it’s just reality.

Central Kansas looks like Boulder, Salt Lake City, LA, Palo Alto, Eugene, Corvallis, Pullman or Seattle? Have you even traveled west of Kansas before?

How many people have dropped cable tv over the last 2 years, millions of households. The big 10 plan of getting one team per state to be able to charge everyone in that state money to get BTN is a dying model. The new model will be how many people will want to stream your games not how many people live in your state.

So schools like Rutgers and Maryland which were great under the old system now become a drag on the conference, because they have small fan bases for football.
If the Big 10 can pry UVA, or UNC from the ACC great for them, but I just do not see it happening.
ISU will never be the leagues first, second or third choice, but when its all said and done, we will be the only school academically and athletically that fills their needs. EIU fans will have a cow over it, but in the end unless they can pry one of the ACC teams away, that is the path we are heading.
Wouldn't we be the only team in the conference without a baseball team too? Pitt would be a better pick for the Big 10 than ISU would.

The good news is that at least we're not Baylor or TCU. TCU is probably screwed. Baylor definitely is.

The only hope of torpedoing this resides in the Texas Legislature. And at this point in time, they can't even get a quorum.

When Boren was at OU, he made it a point to stick together with OSU. There is no longer any such alliance.

I'd have to believe some or all of the other 8 schools have contingency plans in place for such an event. I have no interest in joining the PAC12 and I doubt they want us. It's terrible from a logistics standpoint and we don't bring enough eyeballs. That leaves us two options. We either pray we can get plucked by the B1G, or we take our core schools and see if we can find a few to join. IDK where Colorado stands, but we know kNU is not happy with the B1G. Both left in large part because of Texas. Maybe we can get to 10-12 schools.

I'd almost rather see us rebuild the Big 12 because it means things like maintaining regional rivalries and a week long trip to KC in March. But I don't see a scenario were we can maintain the current TV revenue. Our best hope would be that the big fat raise that was likely to come with the upcoming TV deal could be close enough to what we currently have to maintain what we have.

GOR expires in 4 years...
but this kind of thing starts way early every time. we all knew this was the sweet spot, because the move will take a couple years to happen officially anyway, and will have to happen before a new contract. So we are at the perfect time for moves to happen.

It's impossible to rebuild the Big XII to anything close to what it was. There would be a massive loss in revenue.

yeah I think everyone goes their own way, we get 40m in tv revenue now..that would drop to like 10…meaning we are like an aac team…no reason to keep the 8 rebounding together really
