Man wouldn't it be interesting if the new Big12, SEC and PAC-XX all had a foot print in Texas. I would have to think that was not what the SEC and Texas/OU wanted to happen. Talk about a bidding war for recruits.

These were the thoughts of our AD the last time this went down. He knows what’s up. Fully confident he is planning on bouncing out of this conference vs trying to salvage it. He’s for sure been on the phone with Pac12 Big10 connections.

Exactly. If OU and TU leave (which is sounding almost like a lock), the Big 12 is 100% finished, and any schools that wish to maintain their upper tier football status will be going to one of the remaining big 4 conferences.

Of course, whether they land in these other conferences is up in the air, but I definitely think most will.

Call me crazy, but with the way this is all looking, is attempting to go independent a possibility? At least until the dust settles if we don't get a decent invite? If we can keep Campbell there will be schools willing to schedule us. I'm not sure what that does to revenue, but desperate times call for thinking outside the box.

I highly doubt the Big Ten wants to send an invite, and I'm not so sure joining the PAC is even a smart move considering the lack of rivalries and distances involved. That's even assuming they would be a willing participant.
ISU as an independent = no money to pay Matt Campbell and his staff.

We can not be left in the lurch here. I love Jaimie Pollard and everything hes done but if we dont end up in a P4 conference after this is over, his reputation will take a massive hit. As other have eluded, a Big 12 without Texas and OU will be relegated to the G5, with only a fraction of the money coming in. Big 10 or bust, we cannot sit around hoping it all works out. Specially if KU is reaching out to the Big 10 already.

Jamie is just along for the ride. His hands are tied.

Regardless he's been the most important piece to Iowa State athletics maybe ever.

The Big 12 SEC Basketball challenge will be awkward, Texas and OU should split with the other SEC Schools, and the other 8 Big 12 teams should split the Big 12 money for that.

He was correct then about us being in the MWC most likely.... but I think things have changed since then. I think we have better options now.

Agreed. And at the same time do the Pac and Xii decide to merge just to get nearer to the B1G? A merged Pac/Xii is stronger than the ACC...right?

If USC would ever get their heads out of their asses, yes.

It's certainly better as far as negotiating tv deals go

Oh please. Jamie can’t change our geography. This is something that could only have been prevented 50-100+ years ago when no one would have even seen this coming.
