You can't have it both ways. You can't say that nothing matters but football when talking about everyone but Iowa State. Are we different? Is there a reason why they will look at ISU wrestling but not KU basketball?

Umm Iowa State has a good football team. They are literally in the Big12 title discussion, and even playoff discussion lol.

And I never said anything about KU, but I do hope the B1G takes them because Iowa State would likely be the other team to get to 16.

And this is from 2011, where they went 9-4 and followed it up with going 9-4 in 2012. And they fell off a cliff.

I'm just saying that % is sometimes misleading in high population centers when you are talking about raw numbers. Political elections should tell you that.

We've been good for like 10 years out of the entire 100+ year history of ISU football. K-State has a better football program over the last 30 years than we do by a long shot and they are ****** too.

Well it would be a combination of AAU status, Football, Basketball, and Wrestling. Iowa State is actually pretty good(normally) at a lot of sports. The problem is we’ve been normally not very good at football until recently.

It’s a long shot still, but other than being a blue blood powerhouse Iowa State checks the rest of the B1G’s boxes.

And you would have instant, natural rivalries in Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota. Not to mention CMC coaching against Michigan and Ohio State.

Let's be realistic. If we bring in CFP and Bowl income, we should negotiate a percent to Iowa State to offset this ridiculous objective of compromising to be accepted.

We are unlikely to be in a position to negotiate much of anything if the B1G is actually at the table. Not being pessimistic, just the way that it is. If Pollard/Wintersteen tried to negotiate with them when they were on the verge of offering us and that blew up the deal, that would be the worst mistake in the history of Iowa State athletics.

K-State also isn’t AAU, which the B1G is all about. Nebraska has a history, they aren’t good anymore. I’d say “now” is more relevant than the past.

I'm trying to figure out how our attendance would help other schools financially. I assume ISU only get's an invite if they bring $$$ to the table for everyone.

No sure how the Big10 shares home gate. My guess it is the same as the Cy-Hawk game where I believe the home team keeps 100%.

That said, ISU would bring tremendous value to Big10 schools. ISU v. Minnesota, Illinois and Northwestern would likely be sellouts or have significantly more fans than the home game norm for those schools.

ISU fans (Chicago alumni) would also attend Indiana, Purdue and MSU games in good #'s.

Would not surprise me if ISU at Gopher football game would generate over $1M in ticket & concession revenues. That doesn't include hotel & restaurant sales.

The media landscape is shifting so fast; Rutgers and Maryland cashed in their B1G value when they had the chance. In 20 or even just 10 years, they will be takers more than makers for the conference and lower the overall payout per school.

ESPN tried moving us to the AAC so they could keep us at a discounted price. Does Fox step in and try putting most of us in the PAC and a few in the B1G so they can keep their inventory?

The B1G is about to get a pay raise anyways. This wouldn’t be a discussion if they’d already just signed their new media deal.

That was a bit curious. Keep in mind that it is being written from a Penn State perspective. It is one of the small number of schools that does consider wrestling to be an important part of their culture. It may even be profitable there.

The B1G felt the need to match the SEC once already both going to 14, and it worked for both. I’d be surprised if they don’t want to keep pace and go to 16.

Sure, they might try to raid the PAC first, and maybe even pass the SEC and go to 18 or 20. But Iowa State and KU make a lot of sense if you’re going to 16.
