Iowa State is Bowl Eligible

I've been holding my cards for an epic bowl trip this year since the last one I went to was the 2005 Houston Bowl so I am hoping for Sugar or Alamo. Ceiling was hoping we make the CFB but that is out of the mix now and I did not pony up for the Vegas trip this year with the hope we would make a good destination bowl. I hope we don't wind up in Memphis as that means a lot of bad happened but I'd still probably go because I did not go last time we did.
If we go to the Liberty, that means we lost 2 or 3 more. I'll still go though. The Liberty was a blast 4 years ago. Beale Street was great. The negative was the 30 degree gameday. I've been to some cold football games but that was right up there.
Please avoid Liberty at all costs. I'm hoping worst case scenario is the Cheez it, but I want either the Sugar or Alamo
It's legit better than Vegas and my number 1 bowl destination. I want the Music City Bowl BAD
Maybe so but I prefer warm weather climates for Bowl games which I why I am not a fan of Memphis.
So I've been to Nashville in December and the weather isn't ideal, but it really doesn't matter. That town is all about being inside listening to music anyway.
Iowa State fans would absolutely take over a place like Nashville.
I love the liberty bowl, Memphis is fun and drivable. Although their porter potty situation is a disaster. But yes this team going to a liberty bowl would be devastating.
Wish the big 12 would switch the liberty bowl for the music city bowl.
Place is a dump. Chain link fences everywhere. Zero atmosphere. Poor seats.
If we go to the Alamo, that feels like a situation where we need to not just win, but completely embarrass whoever we play.
Our floor is now the Texas Bowl. Win against Tech and TCU.. the floor becomes the Cheeze-It Bowl (Former Camping World). If we finish 8-4 and Baylor drops this weekends game to OU.. I think we are heading to the Alamo Bowl. OU to the playoff or Sugar and OSU to the Sugar Bowl or at large NY6 bowl.
I'm excited that we are in position we are now, but as a fan I had awesome experiences at some of those smaller bowls when the team finally squeaked out a 6-6 season after winning 2-3 games for several years before. It was pure joy without any lingering sense of disappointment.
Wherever the ceiling of this program winds up being over the next few years, unless it's a national championship there will always be a thought in the back of my mind that "if only we'd made this one play, we'd be somewhere better right now" that makes it hard to just enjoy the moment in the same way.

The Texas bowl usually picks a Texas school so I consider us ineligible for that bowl game. They would take an 6 win Texas over an 8 win Iowa State.
I was there and liked what I saw and I listened to the pre and post game radio shows and liked what I heard. There were a lot of hustle plays that will earn the respect of a packed Hilton crowd, now the crowd needs to return
I feel like it’s probably Orlando if we don’t make the Sugar. If Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are in the NY6, I bet the Alamo takes Baylor unless they completely collapse. If only one of the Oklahoma schools is in the NY6, the other goes to the Alamo, we go to Orlando, and Baylor goes to the Texas Bowl. No inside information, just a guess.
