Texas D-Line Coach Bo Davis Rant on Bus After Iowa State Loss

I was always more worried when they quit yelling.

I'll never forget in high school after a particularly bad half of basketball our coach coming in and very calmly singling out myself and another guy and saying "I've been involved with basketball for a very long time and you two may have played the worst half of basketball I've ever seen anyone play." That one stung a bit.

We had a similar rant at halftime our first 7th Grade basketball game, except is was all 15 players. I could write a novel, but it took about another week of practice before most of the 12 year-olds on the team realized that just because a guy is your basketball coach doesn't mean they know much about basketball.

For years, we have heard Texas fans telll us that "Iowa State Isn't Relevant."
Let's review the last two years:
Last year: Iowa State travels to Austin, wins and they fire Herman. Breece Hall tells the truth about the Texas culture and they beg the SEC to take them.
This year: The Longhorns travel to Ames and gets their fannies handed to them. On the bus home, we get this rant which goes viral.
Iowa State is very relevant to Texas. I guarantee Oklahoma isn't on their minds. It's Iowa State.

One of my cousins heard the rant on the way home after a loss in high school basketball tournament. After the rant, one of the kids mooned the vehicle behind the bus, which so happened to be the team they lost to. On Monday, they heard the rant again.

I think Chip Brown suggested that it was part of reason for firing of Hermann, they’ve been surpassed by Iowa State.

For the "its only a game crew", that is true for the fans sitting in the stands or watching the game on TV, but to those coaches, its their job, and if they want to advance, that means getting more effort out of the players. For the players themselves its their future, do not think for a second, the 4 and 5 star players at UT are not thinking about making huge money at the next level. So its not a game to them either.

This video brings home the point that this loss might not be on the coaches entirely. Clearly players are showing a lack of respect for the team and coaches. I expect more attrition.

Since I hate Texas though, I hope this a frequent and reoccurring problem for them.

CMC is the polar opposite, preaches consistency and process, after a while its just an ingrained habit. CMC is a mentor of mine, more a mentor possibly than anyone in my life and I have never met the guy. I have known people that try to get results by screaming, its self serving and pointless for the most part.

I have heard rumblings that CMC can get quite nasty. However his guys don’t lay down so what he is doing is likely appropriate.

I'm certain ass chewings like that happen all the time. At nearly every college, including isu. If a player in s recording it and leaking it, it means they have not bought in and that us the problem for texas. You are either bought in, or you aren't. At least some have not bought in. Winning programs need to have everyone bought in.

In short: more of the same for texas until they get a group of players and coaches all on the same page.

Those ass chewings only work if you have a relationship and your players respect you. I don’t think that was the case for that dude.

Two things.

1. Herman was fired because his own players hated him and were telling recruits to go elsewhere.

2. Texas has a culture problem and that is what Bo Davis is yelling about. He is saying get with the program or transfer out.
