Kalscheur looks to be a good player

Kalscheur can’t throw the ball in the ocean and is sloppy with the ball, but he makes up for it in other ways. I like the effort, ball movement, defense, etc. Hopefully shots start to fall for him. He’s getting pretty good looks.

Hopefully he can find his early career 3-point touch. Also gotta think his turnovers will go down, he's never been a high turnover guy, like 1.3 or so a game.

Super small sample size but he's tripled the rate he gets to the line which fits in with another post here noting he was driving some.

He looks like a seasoned veteran on both ends of the floor. It’s only been 2 games but at this point I would feel most comfortable with the ball in his hands on a final possession.
I’m going to have to go with Hunter easily

Tyrese Hunter. Then everybody else. Wait until he gets settled into D1 college basketball.

I agree…. he’s easily the most talented player we have…. just needs to get a few more games under his belt and get more comfortable.

Small sample size obviously, but...

It's Brockington for me right now. I really like his all around game. Kalscheur can have an effect on the game on both ends. Hopefully his shot starts to fall and his ft % gets back in line with his career numbers because he's doing a nice job of getting to the stripe I'm a little concerned that his mouth could cost us in a key situation. He had the refs on his ass early last night, and an overzealous zebra who wants attention late in the game could have an eye on him if he's been jawing. Same for Conditt.

And all that said, our best player by Christmas will be Hunter and he'll hold that title for quite a while. That kid is going to be really good.

I will say, our forward made a huge improvement from the first game. I want to see Conditt learn to play major minutes without fouling out. He’s made big strides in his overall game.

Conditt imo has always been one that's better in the 'less is more' school of thought.

'Just get out there and play' might be better than giving him a bunch of stuff to think about.

Kalscheur does not appear to be a great shooter, but I didn't really have a problem with any of the shots he took. I thought they were all good looks for the most part. The issue with this team is I would say we only have two "good" shooters. Grill and Jackson. That's going to leave a lot a 3s taken by mediocre shooters (Kalscheur, Brockington, Hunter, Enaruna, Kunc). That's just how it's going to be. The solution is to take less threes and try to get to the basket, but that's easier said than done when the other team knows that's what you want to do. We're going to have to live with those guys taking threes and hope they make enough of them.

It's like when teams play zone against us and we settle for 3's and I hear fans screaming to "get the ball inside!!". If it were that easy to score inside against a zone defense, no one would ever play zone.

Or the opposite classic…”they are making a bunch of 3’s go to a zone!”

Kalschur or Brockington, take your pick. They are our two best players, as I would expect them to be. Two veteran, proven P5 players.
I would say Kalschuer is the better defender and Brockington is the better rebounder, by far.

I am on Team Tre, but I’m not sure a career 31% average from 3 really sets him apart from the rest of the team. I think he’ll get better as he gets better looks, but right now this is a team with many OK shooters but no great ones.
Re: the zone… we really looked helpless, but I think that can be fixed schematically/with practice. A lot of guys making the right cut at the wrong time. But ISU also had multiple possessions (or at least it felt like it) where the shot was the first time the ball crossed the 3 point line. Even if your point guard is Steph Curry, that’s not an effective way to score.

I would not say Tre is our best player, but he has been outstanding as back up point guard.
MVP of the Kennesaw game - imo
