Agree, for the most part. Perhaps merge-able into current lineup, but at this point, the fewer the ties to past couple of seasons, the better (and probably beneficial for most departures).

I have no idea how well TJO will do long-term, but one thing we know is it won't be a "wait until he's coaching 'all his guys.'" That's already here.

Sort of. Conditt and Tre aren't and Hunter was originally for Prohm.

But otherwise yes this is a team he put together.

Let's see where everthing is by year...3?

He looks like a seasoned veteran on both ends of the floor. It’s only been 2 games but at this point I would feel most comfortable with the ball in his hands on a final possession.
Fair take. By the end of the year I think Tyrese Hunter is our guy for a last second shot.

Dude has the athleticism of Lindell Wigington and more of the basketball iq of Monte. This guy is going to be a DUDE.

This doesn’t go here, but the block by Jones made my jaw drop. I haven’t seen a blocked dunk in Hilton in many, many years. Not only that but it set up our transition offense and ended up with an acrobatic basket by Brockington under the hoop.

Freaking amazing plays back-to-back.

I like Kalscheur, a lot.

Calling @Sigmapolis! Get those stats out you were teaching me about the other day.

I just rewatched that tonight and it looked just as good on TV as it did in person. Jones destroyed that guy. Defense-equivalent of postered him. Resulting 5-point swing was just icing on the cake.

I think it's only a matter of time before our 4s start combining for 15 a night, Our guards are Big XII worthy.
That would be super nice!

And 10 a night average from our two bigs?

That wouldn't be too bad I guess. The guards can play!

All caveats about the sample size being small but...

Kalscheur is fourth-best on the list. Mostly because of his poor shooting.

44.6% TS isn't very good for any position.

9/15 FTs
3/14 from three

He does a lot of things well, but missing a shot is tantamount to a turnover in the eyes of the model. He also doesn't offer much distribution, which is why Hunter shows up as the best player on the team.

Looking at the box score it's pretty obvious our two leading scorers were not very efficient.

Here's the question mark in my brain-
I think for the most part, they have been taking good shots - open and in rhythm. Not always, but mostly. So will those shots start falling? Or are they just bad shooters even taking good shots?

Honestly, IB and GK start shooting say 35% instead of 25%, this team would actually be pretty good.

I would not say Tre is our best player, but he has been outstanding as back up point guard.
MVP of the Kennesaw game - imo

Tre is finally in a role he can be great at. The defensive stopper off the bench.

Providing some rest minutes for the starters, absorbing a few fouls, shut down the other teams best guard, hustling like crazy, bringing emotion and effort to the team. And capable of popping a 3 if they leave him open.

Super valuable piece on any team. Thrilled he is finally being utilized correctly.

Robert Jones looks like Joachim Noah.

Also it’s fun to see that Houball is not dead in the form of the long push pass to the front outlet after a turnover or a rebound.

The most amazing part was the ref didn't call it a foul. Too many times college refs blow the whistle based on what they think will happen, not what actually happens on plays around the rim.

Few said he’s a joy to coach but CF will bash him until the end of time

Maybe Few takes joy out of a difficult challenge :)

I think Ras did whatever he wanted here, and there he is probably doing what he HAS to do. Sort of like a teenager than says they want freedom and no rules, but really they want rules so they feel safe and loved. Total speculation on my part, but just a thought.

I was always a pro-Ras guy, I always saw his potential. But the criticism of him not passing, being disinterested in defense, and not seeming to really care a lot about anything... was justified. Being on a team that cares, and being held accountable by the coaching staff, I don't doubt one bit imagine this has really helped him.

Izaiah is a career .324 shooter. His best shooting was at St. Bonnie where he was .415. His last two years at Penn State he was .267 and .279. So it is questionable if he will get as high as .350. Gabe was .410 and .341 his first two years on high volume. His last year at Minny was .241 so I have a little more hope that the last year was the aberration.

imo they are forced to with the speed of the game. Also, it is so easy to blow the whistle. Impossible to take it back.

This is key. That is why when I referee, granted in a different sport, I think twice before blowing the whistle. Better a call a half second late than the wrong call because of a hasty whistle.

was just remarking about this. quick turn up court after a turnover or long rebound, outlet pass and getting up the length of the court in one or two passes for points in the paint or an open 3 before the defense is set.

liked seeing that.

Best part was Brockington celebrating Jones' block after he just got an and-1.
